  1. Greetings, This is a very interesting work. In my opinion (I'm sure others will disagree with me), there seemed to be too much thematic material. A lot of your ideas seemed to start and stop too soon. I began to lose interest as soon as the piece began to slow down; I do apologize for this statement, I hope it doesn't offend or discourage you. The slow section just seemed to cluttered to my ears. I wasn't really sure what instruments were playing the main thematic material until the Alto Saxophone solo began. The slower section was just too short for me and I had wish you explored more instrumental colors. As the final fast section begins, you indicate the with the tempo marking "Happy" and yet the musical material that begins this section sounds very minor to me. Again, this fast section stops way too soon. You really need to explore your ideas a bit more. In the final slow section, you need to add a bit more accompaniment instead of having the lower sounding instruments play some stagnant material. This section also ends just as it is beginning. Throughout the piece, you tend to harmonize the main melody and not really add much of anything else. I would have really enjoyed more colors throughout this piece instead of having most of the instruments play the same thing...only harmonized. All-in-all, I think you could really work on orchestration and adding more color to your compositions. You have some interesting material throughout this composition, but nothing really seems to jump out to me specifically. I strongly encourage you to continue your music education and compose more music, you display much promise. :) Peace, C.L. Winston

  2. What the hell?? 6/8 against 2/4 is not the same as having 6/8 on both and just removing the dot from the dotted 4th note! It looks wrong and it plays back wrong. The only thing that tokke explained there that is useful is the replacing the visual time signature with text objects. That's what you should be doing, yes. But it simply makes no sense to have 2/4 if it'll just be 6/8 anyway, it's very misleading since a 4th is STILL 2 8ths, regardless of what your time signature is saying unless you simply are making up new rules as you go along. (EVEN IF the 6/8 counts as triplets, but why the hell would you do that?!) And even then, if your quarter is now 3 8ths, why the hell would you even write 2/4??! Likewise, why even bother with different key signatures?? I mean I understand it if it's polytonal, but even then it seems redundant. Jeesh.

  3. Just trying to help you avoid mockery if you were to write something like what tokke did in his example, that's all. I don't really care what you're writing and I never really said anything about aesthetics, just strictly practical things.

  4. Well the mix of orchestral sounds with electronic sounds good, but I would have added more, Edirol loads by default the entire orchestra, the timbres are not good compared with the heavy libraries but the French Horn sounds very good, you could try. Also in the percussions the "DragontMlt" sample sounds very good, like and small tamtam. The Development is a bit stuck, perhaps too repetitive, or maybe a modulation to another tonality was needed,

  5. I need to work on transitions and introductions. Therefore I decided to put together an instrumental with the sole intent on working on introduction and transitions. This is what I came up with.Any type of feedback would be much appreciated as I am still very new to this Genre.Programs used - FL Studio.Synths - Sytrus/Edirol OrchestraEnjoy A Combination of Trance/Techno/Hip hop
