So we all know the Oscar's were last night (well most of us). For the most part, I thought the nominations were best original score were spot on, much better than what as been chosen for previous years. I was, however, once again dissapointed on who the academy chose to win. I felt like Tin Tin and Hugo were the two best and most original scores written last year. Granted, I did not see the artist, so this anyone can challenge my opinion.
Thus.
Who should have won best score?
and
Best Song?
Secondly, it's kind of sad to see the same names nominated over and over and over. John Williams, Howard Shore, Hanz Zimmer, John Powell, etc. have consistently been nominated year and after year, and while I understand that they are extremely good at what they do, I wonder if it's because directors tend to stick primarely with the big names. It would be nice to see more new names out there... Maybe Marius, Andy, or Me. :musicwhistle:
Although this is sort of off topic. I was really happy about how Hugo did, I thought it was a fantastic film. Tin Tin was great also and, even though it was completely cartoonish, I thought it definitely could have been, at least, nominated for best animated feature.
I thought Harry Potter would have been nominated and won more awards than it did. I agreed with the academy, though, as I felt the film was good but not spectacular.
What are you thoughts?
