  2. Hi, love your Rain-inspired pieces! Actually I was a bit hesitant to give it a title Rain, but I guess it's the closest I can get to capturing the purpose and background of this piece. I could have named it Storm, but that may give a different meaning to it then. Thank you! 😄

  3. I like it. It would be really difficult to perform though, as an amateur pianist it would take me... a few months of practice to even get to bar 53. It sounds so much happier than my rain pieces, which is surprising because rain is my favorite weather. I've been writing rain pieces for three years, at the first rain of each year. I'll upload them, so you'd be able to give them a listen if you want to. RainImp3 is from three years ago, Rain is from two years ago, Rain Prayer is from last year. I find rain inspirational, maybe since we don't have much of it here.

  4. Learning how to write proper two, three, and four-part harmony is absolutely vital here. Unlike the piano, the strings (as well as the other instruments in the orchestra) are largely monophonic, so you must treat each voice as its own unique line in the harmonic context. Aside from that, learning what is both physically possible and idiomatic to play on the instruments is essential.

  5. First I would study a little how the instruments work. Their ranges (normal and expertise level). Usual techniques and possible dynamics. Extended techniques if you want it contemporary. Be super-careful with double, triple stops. Most important: see and listen to scores.

  6. I could see a pianist with good stage presence getting a roar of approval from the audience at the end from this one. Very fun!

  7. Very nice, I think the only thing I might do is to give it a little rubato, perhaps this is more to do with the playback as I'm sure a pianist would probably give it the space it needs to breath here and there, but I liked it. kind regards mark

  8. Cute! Well composed, well notated in general. Not much I can think to offer in the way of advice except thanks for posting it (again? 🙂 )! Gustav Johnson

  9. Love this, it's got a real momentum. Well worth the re-post.

  10. The value of this piece is, I think, that it is a study. I mean, the modulations are soft. I've never seen a part in A#m before.
