  1. Hi Everyone, This string quartet was started on a freezing December night last year(2017). I finished the piece this month because I was working on other pieces. (I know it is strange to publish a Winter-themed piece now in summer ) In the first half of the piece, I tried to introduce dissonance to address the seriousness of winter, while trying to make the melody as crystal clear as icebergs. Towards the ending is of much warmth and harmony, which symbolize the end of WInter and the return of Spring. Hope you enjoy the piece! HoYin P.S. I am writing the second movement for the quartet. 2. My first impression is of a very nice piece. There are some dissonances which don't quite work. Overall, I feel that the harmonic structure could be more interesting. I think that the flute needs to take a break at some point. It will help the player and will stop it sounding too monotonous. I feel that you could modulate and have a development section that brings lots of interest into the piece. It seems to end quite suddenly, but this is maybe just my ears. Well done, though. Your flute writing is very good and I like the feel of this piece.

  3. I love this suite. Not afraid of chromaticism and alternative harmonies. Even the last one, apparently "classic", is quite modern.

  4. Unfortunately, I have no idea about this music but I love it.

  5. I'm not a great pianist, but as a listener I love it. Wasn't expecting something as low and serious for the Lost Weasel, but it's a good composition even so. Thanks for sharing! Gustav

  6. I don't know how you guys describe "Dark ambient", but to me, it's a cold and sad genre. I recorded this just this afternoon : I know it's not that good, because everything is improvised, and I did not spend so much time on mixing and mastering.

  7. Thats my rain prayer. The only rain we had where I live this year last around five minutes and it wasn't enough for me to enjoy it. Also I wanted to write something for choir (and the first idea had a trill in it). I tried to write something Jewish or Catholic but I don't like their god, so I made up a rain goddess to pray to. This is my prayer for SATB+Piano, Please let me know what you think of it. *Note that I didn't edit the audio so it's basically the midi from sibelius. I won't recommend listening to it, but I upload it for those who want to.

  8. My entry for the Winter competition 2018! **If you get anxiety, this music is a little tense........ fair warning A piece in three movements inspired by three nuances of the emotion Fear: I - Rush, II - Dread, III - Phobia. All parts attached. My written notes regarding the questions for the competition are on the Composer's Notes page. I did include some extra bits because I got pretty thorough with this: CHANCE MUSIC TABLES.pdfThe Cue sheet is meant to guide the electronics and instruments in alignment and timing, the Chance Music Charts are in case anyone wants to see how I created my chance music. Any feedback and thoughts are welcome. Thanks all! Gustav Johnson
