This was originally intended for a competition, the last of a suite of movements. Each movement had to contain music that was somehow amalgamated in the last movement. Thus it was written first to be able to choose motifs from it for the other movements.
A few phrases are deliberately written "sul pont" and others "sul tasto". The suite as a whole was never completed.
The date on the MP3 refers to the day I rendered it.
Any comments would be most gratefully received - and thank you for listening.
It's basically a lovely sound. I reckon the volume needs upping (or maintaining) at around 0.16" then differentiate the string sounds a bit with dynamics particularly toward the end where it seems to be developing into something. I tend to agree with Tonskald, there's a Sibelian feel about it, 4th or 6th Symphonies. It's going great so far. Don't be afraid to change key somewhere along the line.
I love this! Nice harmonies and instrumentation throughout the piece.
The only thing I'd say, is your use of the glockenspiel (or whatever you're using with that bell sound). If it was used more sparsely I believe you could create a more dreamy effect which I feel would be fitting for this piece.
Also, I think the A# around 0:47 adds a bit of dissonance that breaks the mood. Perhaps changing it for an F# would fix the "issue".
Good job!
Best wishes, Jean.
Not bad! For an opening it was rather colorful, at least harmonically. Reminds me of many Sibelius symphony openings. Of course, I could give much better feedback once I know "where" this theme is going.
As a Tuba player, I am offended.we can play a trill in the low register. Lol. It's ok, no one likes the Tuba.
It sounds interesting from what I got from the midi file, I wish I had a better playback recording.
I don't have anything criticize about the orchestration, you've done a good job compared to my garbage. I'm still learning.
