  1. I just started this piece for orchestra. I really like it so far, but I don't know what to add for melody after what I have, any suggestions? (After the music stops that all I have.)

  2. I love this piece. It has the essence of old fanfare but it's quite modern at the same time. I like this way of rethinking forms or styles. Beautiful canonic structures. On the other hand, great lesson about brass writing. Not bad sound using a phone,

  4. Your problem is with particular passing tones at a lower metrical level. Like in m. 6, where there's parallel G# -> B and the passing A# doesn't count towards mitigating it. Be wary also that a diminished to perfect fifth going upwards is generally considered incorrect (unlike P to diminished going down), like in m. 5.

  5. It seems to me you have two basic options: 1) Create a quick-paced melody that's very bouncy and dance-like. 2) Create a bigger, more grand melody that stretches over entire measures and rests on top of the quicker 6/8 texture. Either way, it's up to you; perhaps you'll find something completely different to do. It all depends on what the piece is for and what your general idea is for it. Good luck on the rest of it!

  6. It's sounding very cool. I'd remove the double bass and cello lines in the first two measures, just to make it a bit lighter in the start. Of course, it's just my opinion. Besides that, it's a nice start.

  7. Reminds me of the music of Jeremy Soule - ambient music for exploration and reflection. You obviously need to learn how to develop your ideas though.

  8. I don't really have much feedback to give about this piece. However, I'm writing a piece for string orchestra that is somewhat similar, so if you want to discuss some details and perhaps exchage a few tips about writing this kind of music, feel free to send me a direct message!
