  1. Im sorry for spamming the piano forum. In future I'll group my compositions under one thread. These two pieces are for beginners.

  2. I agree with Luis here. Even contemporary music intended for listening to and attempting some kind of communication doesn't need prolonged melody. It can run on motifs or just carefully organised wadges of sound as modern impressionists might write. Doesn't mean melody is redundant. Some composers are happy enough to use it. It seems to be more essential to earlier established forms from renaissance polyphony through to the romantics. Schönberg seemed to feel its scope had been exhausted after Gurre Lieder and decided to give it a new definition. But then it continued in more popular styles

  3. Hey, you're not thinking of contemporary music, there are many many works where melody has little relevance (or non).

  6. Other than his YouTube channel no. What he has there is very modern if you're into that kind of stuff. I will say he does a really good job of using samples. I would be interested if he posted a video about how to make a good audio recording using samples.

  8. I really , really, really liked this movement (proably is one of the small cases that I listen to all the pice in one take). I have not much knowlage of music theory or orchestration but to me it sounded great. It does sound like a piece of a late Mozart or early Beethoven but I see no problem in that (if fact I would see it rather as a compliment) as in art I feel you do not need to be always innovative. “Good artists borrow, great artists steal.” - Pablo Picasso “Lesser artists borrow, great artists steal.” - Igor Stravinski “Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal" - T.S Eliot

  9. The horn players will transpose the C part to an F part. It's part of learning horn! I think the symphony contains some good ideas. How many clarinets are there? The opening only has one line, but further through there a two notes at a time. Marking "A2" at the start would be helpful. Bar 43 - the harmony sounds a bit out of place within the symphony. Moving in parallel triads is not always a good harmonic move. The phrases after that also sound harmonically strange. Overall, good work!
