  3. I've been working on this romantic orchestral piece over 9 months dedicated for my girlfriend. I wrote this piece on piano initially and then arranged it for orchestra. It’s in a basic sonata form with two melodies that interchange throughout the piece. If you have any feedback on the themes or the structure of the piece (or any other aspects) please let me know 🙂 It tells the story of falling in love, from humble beginnings to grand romantic gestures. It’s inspired by my own relationship, expressing everything I’ve felt so far in the form of music. Wishing everyone a safe and Merry Christmas at the end of this ridiculous year ❤️

  4. This is a repost of the Confutatis movement of a Requiem, I have been working on for quite awhile. I made some minor changes in the orchestration, mostly in the second half of the piece. The first half is written as a simple, mournful canon intending to depict those condemned to the "flames of woe" resigned to their fate as their punishment is carried out. The second half is intended to depict angels descending from heaven, represented by the tremolo strings, to comfort those who have been saved by their contrition.

  5. Okay! I've tried to lighten up the pizzicato accompaniment and also improved the counterpoint and some of the voiceleading in the middle. I think I'm satisfied and I feel the piece is complete now. Thanks for your help!

  6. Thank you very much! I, unfortunately, being relatively inexperienced composing for voice often push them to the extreme ends of their ranges inadvertently, the downside of composing by computer software.

  8. A short fugue I have written. I would like some comments regarding the molodies of the different voices, harmony and if anything feels out of place. I do not have sheet music for the fugue.

  9. I'm usually very analytical about fugues but in order to really get into it I need a score. From what I can hear you don't restate the subject in the exposition in it's strict/correct form (at the dominant level). You do however write some nice episodes which modulate to closely related keys. You also have some nice instances of stretto entrances of the subject in your middle entries. The only thing that I feel like you could incorporate more into your writing of fugues is the use of space so that the listener doesn't feel bombarded with a constant onslaught of contrapuntal rhythms. I'm not sure what happens at 1:11 - is this an attempt at a double fugue or an augmentation of the subject? Overall a nice job!

  11. Very nice. My only suggestion is that voices are essentially in tutti with a homophonic texture all the time so after awhile it sounds a little "blocky." It would be nice to have some contrapuntal contrast or at least more independent motion in the voices. I have symphonic choirs, it's hard to use but the results are pretty awesome and worth it if you are serious about choral composition. I used it for my requiem if you want to get a sense of what it sounds like:
