Hi, after having studied John Field's 18 Nocturnes, particularly his left hand patterns, I wrote a couple of short, tonal, and simple pieces However I couldn't help it, and some "more modern" harmonic changes are present. Or some kind of metric modulation. And other devices.
I was interested in this composer as the father of the Nocturne.
Wanted to see how far I could push two whole tone trills separated by a whole tone ascending chromatically. Not sure if I will finish the piece but if I do it will include a score.
I liked the crescendos which brought more life to the music I thought. On the whole I felt like you overused your main melodic motif that you introduced in the very beginning. You also use sequencing and scalar motion quite copiously - when you introduce some figurations with larger leaps it's a welcome change. I guess it's a very sweet kind of piece I just don't think there's much in it to surprise the listener. It doesn't really do anything unexpected I felt like. Although the result was still enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!
