  1. Hi everyone! Here is a piece that I wrote called "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath", it is inspired by the novel wrote in 1927 by American writter H.P. Lovecraft. I wanted to describe this weird winded-dream in which Lovecraft plunges his character Randolph Carter into. I've used some weird and unusual progressions and ambient sounds through the piece to try and describe this strange and dreamy universe of the novella. Any feedback from composition to production is much appreciated!

  2. Thanks for taking the time to listen and for your inputs! The Shostakovich comparison is definitly boosting my ego ahah, i need to check Arnolds and Goldenthals work out. I don't have a score for it as i'm a bit slow in the theorical side of things. But it would be really interesting to do someday... and probably do-able adding notations for synths, unusual instruments, phrases and such...You point out something really interesting, i think good horror/sinister music often comes from a lack of harmony or theme and is often achieved thanks to extensive use of minor keys, dissonances, unusual techniques and ambient/cinematic sounds rather than thematical ideas although a simple creepy leitmotiv can do wonders (halloween, jaws, the exorcist...). I'm happy that it feels connected, i think the use of the Harp/vibraphone combination(in a Bernard Hermann style) and sound fx transitions helped in that matter! Those percussions are called jungle percussions on the plugin i'm using so...not sure ^^ anyway thanks for your feedback and i'll make sure i post future pieces here!

  3. I found out my wife is pregnant and I felt uncomfortably happy. I'm autistic and find strong emotions overwhelming so I improvised on the piano to help relieve the pressure of the emotion and i was pleased with the theme I came up with so I thought I'd share it on here. 4. Now that I listened to the whole thing I don't really see why you're stuck. It sounds like it's just about nearing an ending where you're at. Maybe if you don't listen to the piece for a while it might give you some perspective as to it's state of finality. I struggled for a while with many pieces that felt like they just wanted to keep going and going. My Gavotte in C and 11 Variations on a Brisk Theme to name just two. I ended up cutting them short and just finishing them where they were at - they were just about ripe to end and I just couldn't hear it in my obsession with continuing them. That approach might benefit this piece. On a different note, I feel like each of the sections in this piece are just about stretched as far as they can be without boring the listener. You create some interesting contrasts with how different each of the sections are. I do have to say that some of them are a bit cliche though and reminiscent of other piano works like the chords at 95 being quite similar to Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1. At least you keep that part relatively short in comparison to the other sections and it quickly segues into a variation of your main motif in 7/4. Btw - in the score it's a bit confusing when it's apparent that you meant to split the 7/4 bars into 4/4 and 3/4 sections but the numbers "4/4" still appear on the page (did you forget to erase them???) Anyways - I hope some of that is at least helpful and good luck on finishing it! Thanks for sharing. Peter
