  1. I wrote this for a recital i did a couple weeks ago. probably the prelude/ interlude sections sound more improvised than i was intending but much of it was written kind of hastily. The influences were John Bull, Orlando Gibbons, Thomas Tomkins, maybe Frescobaldi and Leonora Duarte as well. There's a page turn halfway in, just a head's up.

  2. A most interesting piece. A poem that comes across to me as rueful and a little weary. But what harmonies and, if you constructed the vocal parts you have a remarkable sense of pitch. It would need a well trained choir to sing. Notable is the variation in texture for example the build-up across the phrase between bars 52 and 55. The close seems particularly poignant. Certainly an accomplished piece. It hasn't been too bad here. I can sympathise about the effects of lockdown - our town orchestra had to stop along with a contemporary youth dance troupe with which I did some work. Neither have recovered yet. I also dried up - well, almost though I came up with a couple of experimental pieces. But I got by I suppose. I'm still not in the composition mind-set. Perhaps my composing time is up. It remains to be seen. Good, however, to say hello to you again and hoping you stay well and ease back into music. Your works here were always memorable.

  3. Ah, this is a fun and wholesome idea! I hope nobody takes offense that I don't list 10 favorites here; these are just the ones that came immediately to mind. (Listed in no particular order.) Everything by @Jared Steven Destro is meticulously crafted. I particularly enjoy his esoteric piano works, but this orchestral piece is so sonorous and textured. Beautiful! @gmm is, of course, masterful at thematic development and orchestration; I would be remiss if his Adagio didn't make my favorites list! This up-and-coming teenager, @jejrekmek, put me on my bum recently with his stirring piano piece/performance. And speaking of new members... This recently-posted short waltz by @Greentealatte93 brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. It's so poignant and emotive! And, of course, @PeterthePapercomPoser, king of variations! I love the adventurous harmonies and rhythms of this particular piece. To round off the list, another bit of chamber music by ever-clever @Quinn! I always love the "dialogue" presented by his music, and this piece especially. There are probably loads of other wonderful pieces I've missed... looking forward to everyone else's playlists!

  4. I very much like the entire song but the left hand trills just made my morning. Very nice and short piece. Hope you get your deserved mental rest! Kind regards.

  5. I think this fugue would stand to gain much musicality from a real performance. I think it is in fact quite enjoyable (for me it's especially lucid for the first 17 bars which are quite coherent in terms of the episodic and sequential developments you fashion). I also like the last 3 bars. Somewhere in the middle in there when you modulate to F minor I feel like that shift takes me out of the pleasurable listening experience and I instead am focused on the surprise of being in an unexpectedly distant key. But overall I liked this one. Thanks for sharing!
