  1. Dear Forum members, you can check my new composition. Lately I am very inspired to write music. This piece I wanted to be a little bit different from my other ones. Hope you will enjoy. Cheers, Tomasz

  2. Hi there. Thanks for the comments. I agree about the balance in the lengths of the two movements. Overall I wanted a stark contrast between the styles of the two movements with the Intro being more tonal and minimalist and the Allegro more aggressive and modernist. I'll have a look at editing down the intro, I think and probably make the Allegro end less suddenly with a coda maybe based on the middle section of the Allegro. Thanks again. It's great to get feedback.

  3. Man, I really don't know. If I ask myself that question there's no sincere reply so I have put whatever I believe a third person would have thought of what my music aspires to be. I don't even know why I compose apart from the fact I like to do it. I just probably never thought about that. Perhaps this reply will change in a year or two. Kind regards!!

  4. Hi Mark many thanks for sharing. I loved your orchestration, sounded very accomplished and professional. The only thing I think it's lacking is a great melody, and for that you def need to give yourself more time and breathing space. You have amazing material that constantly leads towards this, but never arrives. I'm a believer in that all great melodies can be played with one finger (on a piano). So I think you need to concentrate now purely on your melody writing. Analyse famous melodies, can be any genre, even pop music, their construction, and try to understand what it is that makes them great, and memorable. Do several youself, and make them simple, but profound, and insist that you play them with only one finger. Then construct a big work around them, but these melodies must remain the focal point of the work at all times. If you managed to do this it would be epic, because the connecting material you have here is wonderful. Many thanks for sharing Mark, I mean to start my 2nd piano concerto soon, wish me luck! All the best Mike

  5. I think your samples are good and your music sounds great mostly. The only thing I have to complain about (which is something I think I've brought up in some of your other tracks featuring voices or choir) is that the voice sounds very disconnected and non-legato. That makes it sound kinda notey and choppy and far from a realistic sounding rendition imo. I especially feel like the very beginning phrase suffers from a lack of rhythmic variety which might contribute to my impression. But the instrumental parts are really great and the stronger feature of this piece. It does sound like a medieval fantasy and I think it does portray the picture quite well although it has a somewhat unexpected touch of melancholy to it. I especially like the flute/recorder part. Great job and thanks for sharing! Do you know how you fared in this competition?

  6. I am ecstatic to hear that you believe it was very carefully composed! It was! I had the ideas mapped out from the beginning, but really tried working with how it sounds. I'm delighted by your response. Thank you!

  7. Hey man, thanks for checking out my piece. I appreciate the detailed honest review. I went back and forth with the form, and also had a version where the mood never got jaunty and bouncy. For future pieces, I might try and develop the melody further without changing the overall texture like I did, but I dunno I felt like the slow nocturne-type feel was getting boring. I wanted it to spring to life there. Thanks again! P.S. I checked out your youtube channel, you play a wicked accordian. Do you write for it? Maybe I missed it, but I only saw the one video

  8. Sorry for the late reply but I have to say that I just love the 2nd movement of this concerto! The counterpoint and varied repetitions and the overlapping melodies and changing registers are hypnotic and beautifully crafted. Also, melodies with repeated notes have a certain classical charm to them that I love. You certainly are a tune-smith for having written this movement! Great job and keep composing!
