  1. A tone-poem I recently started. Just wanted to give a sneak peek into what I've been working on in terms of orchestration. The piece is called "Goliath" due to the immense size of the orchestra. The beginning will actually be a foreshadowing to the ending. The next part, the con bravura in the horns, is the beginning to a sequel-prequel that will sound more victorious than when it returns later in the piece. I haven't started writing the real beginning to the piece - I'm working on motifs to present throughout. While I have an idea of the piece is truly about, I believe the audience should be left to interpret the piece for themselves rather than pushing something onto them.

  2. Hi Henry, Thank you for your positive comments! Yes, I am planning to post one of my newest compositions in conjunction with Christmas this year. I am glad that you enjoyed my piece, and once again, thank you for taking the time to listen to my work! Carl Koh Wei Hao

  3. I actually love that clashing sound, but seems that I have too much Bach in my conception so that's just my preference. I will just add one dominant seventh chord in the melodic minor with the melody rising, so that the E natrual can still be retained F#-G-A-Bb-C-A D-E natural-F#-G-A-F# But that's really justcmy preference, since I am notvall familiar with the schematas! I've read his "Rhythmic Structure of Music" but never know that! Yeah should definitely try that one day! Really educational here, thank you so much! Henry

  4. That opening is so familiar. I guess it's from Chopin waltz no.2! Really chopinistic composition here! The melody, modulations, ornaments, expression, style, everything. Really good job to pay homage to Chopin. The modulation to E major in the middle section in 2:33 comes from Chopin's Polonaise in the same key? Oh I am wrong!! it's in C sharp minor!! Really showy passage here and after. Some elements from Chopin's mazurka also appears here though not in triple meter. Good job here! Love it. I think it's fine to end here by repetition of the A theme, as many Chopin's smaller scaled piano works also end in this way. But adding a coda will also be fine. It really depends on how you perceive the piece. Overall a really nice piece! My only complaint: Really want you to post your previous 51 pieces here too! Also this post is 1 year before. Do you have any new compositions? Really would like to check that out too! Great job! Henry
