  1. In a classical style, melodies are usually divided into 8 bars (4+4) or 16 bars (8 + 8, that also divides into 4+4) and has one of these forms AA' or AB, (you made AA) If you chose AA' that means that you have to end on the fifth grade (or at least, not in the first note of the scale) in bar 4 and end on first grade on bar 8. For example: Ypu did I + IV + I + IV, I IV I V (the laast note was g over a D chord) If you want a harmonicaly simple theme (as in mozart k310) i would have done: I IV I (V/V) V, I V(ii) V7 I I don't have much time more to look your rondo but i think this might help you. Also, sorry for my bad english, i'm not used to explaining Musical concepts in english. By the way: try to avoid III - I (bar 11) and II - I (bar 11-12) those progressions are 'weak' maybe you could make III (2 inversion) V; or II (first inversion) V I (or VI)

  2. I got stuck on this one, and worked on all the others after it while I figured out what I was trying to go for...I think. At any rate, thanks for all who have been checking these out. This one's based in Bb, dabbles at quartal harmonies, and features wide extremes in dynamics. EDIT: Henry's performance

  3. Here's a piece I wrote on my acoustic guitar. As the title states, it's a simple song. I know, I know, it needs a vocal. Enjoy. -Rick

  7. Hi @Aaron_Bob, Thanks for quoting my name! I'll try to review it. I think @Samuel_vangogh is right. For example in the opening two bars the harmony is I-ii6-V-I, but the left hand note is missing, that's it's like a I-IV-I. In b.6 the left hand figuration should just follow the harmonic plan instead of insisting in IV. After writing a melody you can analyze its possible harmony and thus add the right harmony in the left hand. E.g in b.30 there's V-I instead of a sole V, thus you can change the left hand chord to V-I instead of having the V chord clashing with the G in RH melody. There are other places like this in the piece and yoi can use it as an exercise! In b.12 it's the ending of the first section and it usually ends in a dominant. You can make it more clearly in V! Thanks for sharing and would love to see your update! Henry

  8. Chopin, Thank you very much. I'm glad you like the piece. I really liked coming up with it just zoning out on my guitar. As far as you possibly wanting to use it on your projects, feel free to use it as you please. I don't ever plan on making money with my music. Composing music is just a satisfying hobby for me. It's kind of a therapy as I have Asperger's and OCD. Just be aware that I can't make any changes to this piece because I can't find the Sonar project file I created it in. All I have is the mixed down wav file... warts and all. Also, I don't participate in Discord, Twitter, Facebook, or any social media at all. I have no interest in that stuff. I do love YouTube. Sorry if that should present a problem. I'm just not well suited for social media. I have way too many hobbies to eat up my time. If you need to contact me here is my email: thunddd (the aaht symbol) comcast (the doht character) net (Am I allowed to do that here in this forum?) Thanks again, Rick

  10. I have no idea why I did not post this here, but I am going to start up a string of tutorials on my Youtube channel. I talk about tuplets at the very basic level, and why you may want to use them in your writing. Give the video a thumbs up, comment if you wish, and don't forget to subscribe if you want to see more of this type of content from me. Video is really long, but I break all my content up into chapters. I'm open to suggestions on how to improve my videos. For example, if there's too much dead space I can try to make my videos progress a little faster. Or if the videos are just too long, I can break them up into smaller segments. I'm literally experimenting with video length.

  11. Young Composers is expensive to run. And Music Jotter (see trailer) is an alternate solution to the current web notation products on the market today. My standards go far beyond the web products though. If you want to learn more, just delve into my videos on Youtube. Don't forget to subscribe btw! The main question though is this: would you support this community on a subscriber level basis? I've run Young Composers for free since I was 24 (so that is 18 years). This year, a lot of changes are happening though. We are going to add more value to this community in 2 major ways: Organized competitions that we've been experimenting with. They aren't perfectly run but we are listening to you, and will use data to improve Music Jotter integration. This is a pretty big change because I've been marketing this product outside of this community. The Music Jotter community is vastly different than Young Composers, but I've made the decision to bring these communities together by integrating this early access product with YC. Joining Patreon means you will support the following: Music Jotter development A Youtube content creator. As the channel grows, we can use this to our advantage. Continued efforts to organize Young Composers competitions (by recruiting judges, and organization on Discord) Continued efforts to improve our general review system (by recruiting reviewers) Ensure Young Composers will remain the oldest music community on the internet that is still active today (est in 1997!) Would love to know your thoughts! Please vote 😊
