Thanks for listening and for your feedback, @Fiddeou! I am glad you liked it! You are right. Those are the bars I am most conscious of and I am thinking about better ways to smooth it. But I had not though about your option which is the most obvious one. If I continue the semitonal descend and resolve the C to B, and the E to D# (and maybe modify the melody a bit) the B chord will work great and go to E much smoother. I will test some options at night after work! You just need to paste the link in the comment. In my case, as soon as I paste any youtube URL link, the video gets automatically embedded into the comment. Try pasting the youtube URL link in the comment (do not use the "link" button from the toolbar as that does not embed the videos). Gracias y un saludo!2 points

This is very very nice! If I should give some feedback, it may be that the harmony at bars 17 to 19 is a little sloppy. Each of these are nice and interesting by themselves, but together they don't make a lot of sense. I think it boils down to that C natural in bar 18 not getting resolved. Anyway, I think it's quite a solid composition. Unrelated question: What do you do to embed youtube videos? (I'm very new to this forum) Saludos!2 points

A couple of years ago, waiting for my dad at a car park, I came up with these funny lyrics. I didn't know how to harmonize it, until, two months ago, I sat on the piano and started jamming. One day, I woke up and decided to make a music video with more instruments, which I did that very evening. Here's the result:1 point

Welcome to the forum @Fiddeou! I enjoyed that a lot too! As a person that cannot play any instrument half decently it really amazes me that you can play so many. I would say my favorite part was the saxo solo, but the dancing right before it might be a contestant to the best part as well 😂. Thanks for sharing!1 point

Guardian25.pdfHello Guardian, Very fine opening and very nice mood. I think ms 2 should be Eb5. As well there are some modulations that is a bit sudden. Might be because you miss the thirds when you end on tonic (like ms 8). Ms 14 is tnot goot enough prepared. Progression to 15 does not work to well (you have g minor that seems to resolve to c minor, but you miss the root note C on the first beat). If its Eb it dont work. Thorugh the piece there are things like this that would improve both modulations and haromic quality. Allwas look to the previous chord when moving to a new one. I liked you opening so much that i made a lille adagio of it to demonstrate what i mean by mondulations, structure and missing thirds/root note. (Dont mind the parallel passing octave in ms 15 - 18. Its because of the basslines melody.) Love that you are doing baroque, good job.1 point

OK. On the other hand, the melodic combination is very very good. For example the parallel descent in measure 5 (when the cello goes up an octave), or the ascending cello in measures 7 and 8.)1 point

I understand the intention, and I think it is not wrong to give the flute a quieter role in this movement. The "problem", for me, is not that, but that in a large part the flute line is parallel (rhythmically) to the cello. And this gives a much older musical feel than the style it pursues.1 point

Hi @Moueen Issa, What I think it is the weakest point in this piece is the rythm of your first theme, in the first 4 bars, you use 4 different rythmic cells, that makes the music to have no sense of direction, this is pretty good for development sections but not for the theme! As the harmony is very well built and rich it is a pity that rythm isn't 😞. Also you use dorian mode in the theme (by using a descending bassline) but that's all the modes you use, have you htought of using modes outside the theme? This is just an observation, the piece is perfect as it is now. If I were you I would check the final bars, the fluency of music is suddenly cut. Besides those picky observations, it is indeed a very enjoyable piece!1 point

Hi @Moueen Issa, This is an enjoyable rondo with interesting episodes.I love that French Sixth cord in b.13 and later passages. What I like most is your voicing actually. The melody appears to be not smooth for good expressive effect, and the voicing is very fluent for creating that effect, which moves the piece well. I agree with Luix with the fixed main part but it's fine for me since it's a rondo in short time. Thx for sharing! Henry1 point

Hello @Fiddeou, Welcome to the forum! This is indeed funny! The lyrics, your singing style, the saxophone passage (which for me is great!), the jazzy style, the percussion, it's a good combination! It's hard to combine all those instruments and soundtracks for one video, and you just used one take for each of the instruments! Good job! Thx for sharing and joining us! Henry1 point

Thank you so much for listening and for commenting, @Samuel_vangogh! 😄 I am really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting about the ritardando. I was not planning to do a ritardando there, but, instead, I just wanted to slow-down the xtempo a little bit so it seemed like the virtual instrument does give some emphasis to the unexpected harmony. But I overdid it 😅. I just modified it so the tempo change is much more subtle. Thank you! I totally agree with you! While listening to the piece, what bothered me the most was how fast the E major half-cadence arrived in the B section and how little time was left to enjoy the beginning of part B (which is my favourite part of the piece). Since you commented the same, I tried to extend and make a decent contrasting section. Since I liked the melody of bars 9~12 I just opted to repeat them by modifying the harmony a little bit. I kind of understand this part of the development, and might try to modify some little things as I see fit. Then, instead of doing a definitive half-cadence I add some harmonies around the E chord before the half-cadence. Those are bars 17~19. Honestly, I have no idea what is going on in those bars. I composed them almost entirely by ear. I came up with a melody and bass I enjoyed and added the middle voice, but did not totally understand what is the harmony behind it. And I also realize that there are constant paralell octaves between melody and bass. But it sounds kind of okay. I tried to do some kind of Frigian cadence to E but.. I am not sure if it worked 🤣. Contrasting and developing sections always come to hard to me and I am never sure about them, so feel free to let me know if you think it is a tasteless addition to the original piece! Also, since the development section became quite larger, I ended up repeating the whole A section at the end. Felt that after a long development section repeating just the last 4 bars was kind of disapointing. I agree with that too. However, in this case I wanted to keep the same voice to voice counterpoint (without diminution in any of the voices) to create the "hyptonic" and "repetitive" effect in the piece. So in the development section I tried to keep the interest mostly through the harmony and by repeating motives previously heard. Your comment helped a lot, thank you so much!1 point

It is a very nice movement. But for my taste the flute should have more rhythmic figuration, at least in some moments because it's a bit monotonous that 1 against 1 most of the time. The sound of the harpsichord has a filling effect that softens this situation.1 point

Yeah I liie the updated version more! Just one thing: in b.18 that root position chord has an Ab on it which I feel like you can have an A natural there to form a iii/Bb, since it's already in Bb major there, just my opinion. Great! Thx for your update! Henry1 point
