  1. Hello all, It's definitely been a while since I posted. I've mainly been preoccupied with school and making analysis videos, but I haven't stopped composing however! In fact, I've been able to get regular composition lessons quite recently, and it has definitely helped me expand my horizons(though the bulk of the work still depends on me). Here's what I came up with, and I've also been fortunate enough to be allowed a performance at the composer's concert. I would appreciate if yall could give me some feedback before I maul and butcher this piece in front of my peers and professors. Special shoutout to Henry Ng, and hope you get better soon. 2. Thank you for your advice! Maybe I should have used fewer instruments somewhere in the music piece, but this is a two-minute long piece, and I had to tell a 'story' during this period, so I decided to use all of my ideas and "denser" instrumentation in the track.

  3. I like it, very Scooby-Doo. I would say my only critiques is that there could be a bit more action and variation to the accompaniment, but of course it is tricky to balance movement with atmosphere in pieces like these. The only other thing is that I would say the sequencing of the strings and brass could be improved, particularly in the dynamics. But I suppose it depends on what the samples you are using allow for.

  4. Hi again Aaron, I think you make a great use of suspensions and neighbor tones in this piece to bring some well prepared melodic dissonance into the music! I think in measure 16, I perceive a missed opportunity for you to maybe modulate into the minor mode (using Bb's instead of B naturals in that measure would have been really fitting imo). Measure 17 might also have worked with a G minor chord instead of G major (possibly). But that might just be my perception. Thanks for sharing this charming piece!

  5. Hi Aaron! I like the fact that you've used 1st and 2nd endings effectively in this piece and you put the fermata at the very end of the piece and not in the middle like in previous pieces of yours which would arrest the motion of the music. I think the weakest spot of this piece is in measures 2 - 3. The combination of quick 16th note runs suggest a hemiola in bar 2 and in bar 3 the harmony is also a bit unclear. I personally would have the left hand in bar 3 play a G, A and F# in quarter notes. The F# at the beginning of bar 3 clashes with the right hand's G major implied harmony. I think besides that the piece works really well! You seem to be a quick learner and are improving rapidly! Thanks for sharing! Peter

  6. Nice spooky atmosphere just in time for Halloween! My only complaint with this piece is that you seldom have choice uses of space and changes in texture such as having only high or low instruments playing at certain portions of the piece. That is something that @Thatguy v2.0 brought to my attention in many of my own pieces, where I am often too preoccupied with filling up all the instrument parts with music and I miss the opportunity to have some much needed breathing room/space/change in texture. I feel like you could have really created a much more delicate moment in the music if you let all the instruments drop out at one point and have only 1 or two remain or something like that. Those are my thoughts. Thanks for sharing this spooky piece! P.S.: Did you also happen to use the same VST as @AngelCityOutlaw for that theremin-like sine-wave-ish sound? Spooky Keys?
