  1. Having been trying out the choral rendering website Cantāmus over the course of the past few weeks, I have finally composed this religious-themed motet yesterday in memory of my late grandmother Marisol, who passed away in late August last year. Besides being a beloved, wonderful and caring grandmother, as well as an excellent cook, she was also a pious and devout Catholic, and as such, I deemed both a Kyrie Eleison and the first five versicles of the Pater Noster to be a fitting choice of lyrics for this motet. Dona Nobis Pacem also appears once simultaneously in the alto and the bass, and the fifth versicle of the Pater Noster appears conjoined with the fragment "et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis". Enjoy! YouTube video link:

  3. That's really sad... Thank goodness you got out of that headspace though, otherwise we wouldn't be able to hear more of your great music! 😀

  4. Yeah I know the feeling very well. I just ike you have lots of unfinished works (you can see that in your look into my "about me" profile here!) And it's always happy you finally find a work worth to be called a work, in my case that solo piano work named ( ). I didn't even consider myself a composer until I finished my Clarinet Quintet and started to feel like I can indeed compose something. Henry

  5. For example: b.69 and similar passages the 2nd violin and viola has one semiquaver of parallel octaves (A-G) but that's minor. b.78 parallel 8ves from E to F btw. 1st violin and cello, 79 and 80 parallel octaves from E to D btw. 1st and 2nd violins, but both are within semiquavers' time. B.86-87, 87-88 D-G parallel octaves btw. 1st violin and cello, b.88 G-F parallel octaves btw. 2nd violin and cello. B.121 beat two there are parallel octaves btw. 1st violin and cello. I usually find it more permissible to have parallel octaves between the inner parts or one inner plus outer parts, but not two outer parts when the other parts are not in unison. And it will be perfectly fine if it's for octave reinforcement, like what you do in b.231, but not having parallel octaves in only some notes while other notes are not. Thx for your reply! Henry

  6. Hey all, A really big premiere happened for me this week that I wanted to share. This is my solo sax piece I shared the midi of earlier this year, but now it was performed by my truly amazing bestie. Curious to hear your thoughts. The grit and energy put in by the performers was perfect and expresses this bridge piece between old tonal Evan and new weird Evan perfectly. Still lots of composing happening. My stuff is quite different these days. Will probably be back for advice next month on my next work.

  7. I listened to the corrected version - great job! I find all the lines well thought out and logical. The modulation in the middle is also lucid. Very beautiful music! Thanks for sharing.

  8. Hi @Awsumerguy, The piece has some contemplative mood in it. It indeed contains some parallel 2nd like in the first few lines. The change to pizzicato in b.59 is quite nice, except I am not sure whether the triple stopping pizz for the 2nd violin will be hard to play or not since I don’t play the instrument. I think the op.1 one is quite good as your first composition. My first composition is sxxt compare to yours. Thx for sharing! Henry
