  1. Yeah but what's happening with the doll now?!? Is this the preamble for more to come? This seemed like the intro scene to a movie right before the title is shown on screen. 😄 Very cool, and your camera is awesome lol. Just make your voice more in the foreground next time, it was hard to hear what you were saying when the music got louder.

  2. Ok this is actually pretty cool. The music goes well with your script and mood. Nice camera shots and angles too! There is one major problem though and that has to do with your voice. It's inaudible! Also the quality of your voice sounds mono. At 25 seconds in, there's distortion too. That has to be eliminated. So the music, mood of script, camera shots are all great. But your voice has to be fixed. You can definitely fix these problems in "post" meaning, you can tweak the existing audio track. The voice to music db levels don't have to be like my videos (where my voice must well overpower the music, usually by a good 30 db higher). You could probably get away with a 15 to 20 db voice delta since this is a trailer, and the music is the main focus. But I unfortunately can't hear what you are saying, at least, with headphones on.

  3. G'day @PeterthePapercomPoser, Thanks a lot for your observations! I'll take them into consideration. I used Crescendo Music Notation. I definitely understand what you mean by the pianissimo. There was a certain part of the score where a "ppp" was enscribed, but ultimately I decided against it because the sound was practically non-existant. Anyway, thanks again for your feedback! Cheers, Quinn

  4. Hi Matthan! Great job creating an accessible melody and varying it effectively with a modulation out of the home key and back to it before the end (which also sounds conclusive). I think this piece would benefit from being played a bit slower as currently your figurations at measure 120 & 122 are on the brink of impossible. Another big thing that would greatly improve my appreciation of this piece is if you brought out the melody by using velocities. It sounds like you're using the Musesounds piano in this rendition and unfortunately, changing velocity with Musesounds won't make any audible difference at the moment (don't ask me why). But you can use any MSBasic soundfonts and velocities should work (and the MSBasic piano is actually pretty good if you download the reverb effects off of Musehub). Right now your accompaniment is too loud and the melody isn't brought out enough imo. It makes it sound very mid even though there's dynamics hairpins because there's no hierarchy of importance - balance. Because of how you harmonized your melody it also sounds like just tremolo between two chords. It might serve to remove some of the thickness from the texture sometimes. But this is on the whole an enjoyable piece - thanks for sharing! Peter

  5. A Classical waltz, very cool! Most waltzes I have listened to have been in the Romantic style. This piece gets very interesting after the 1 minute mark. Your harmony is much more interesting here, kudos! And I love the part at 1:40, right before the waltz goes back to root key. The only thing I will say that when you compose music, try varying your harmonies a little more. For example, when we look at your first page, there are no accidentals. This tells us that we are in strict key! And sometimes this is fine, especially if you are trying to write a folk tune, or something simple. But this piece would greatly benefit from a little more harmonic variation. If you have not watched my Valentine's Day video yet, be sure you do! I talk about the role of harmony in Romantic music. You may enjoy it, and learn a few things along the way.

  6. In my opinion it's not just that the tempo doesn't change that makes it sound robotic - it just too fast to me. I know it's a tarantella and they're meant to be fast, but imo it would sound more musical slower. Also, you could bring more contrast to the contrasting sections by having those slower as well, in comparison to the tempo primo. The rendition sounds a bit dry also - maybe you could add a bit of reverb? There are also short sections of the piece which include pedal, but I'm not sure that I heard that your rendition? Btw - what program did you make this in? It sounds like it might be Musescore MSbasic piano soundfont. The problem I've encountered with that is that usually it sounds dead at pianissimo. But you can fix that if you download the reverb effect off of Musehub. Thanks for sharing!

  8. I used a free taiko used on SFZ software (Sforzando). But I highly recommend 8dio’s taiko ensemble or solo taiko. Or the best is Damage 2 but it’s rather expensive.

  9. The melody and accompaniment are sweet and gentle. Maybe you can add one beat long pedals for the parts of the lh where the bass note is held for a beat. The motifs can be expanded much more too.
