  1. Hi guys, im a 17 years old composer, and as an addition to my other prelude in b major (which i apploaded some time ago) I’ve written another prelude that is named “the butterfly”. Any reviews are welcome thanks https://musescore.com/user/38164718/scores/20122765?share=copy_link

  2. Thanks! Yes, I'm pretty satisfied with the production quality on it. Thanks Peter In production music, it has to do what it says on the tin. The names of the tracks tell you what sort of idea/trope it embodies. If an audio director, producer, etc. goes to the company and says "We need something that has an 'Egyptian'' sound" then they are probably looking for things that sound like The Anubis Gate, that play up the Phrygian Dominant and that instrumentation. Conversely, someone looking for that sort of sound perusing the company's library who sees a track called "The Anubis Gate" is likely to be disappointed and feel their time is wasted if it doesn't meet the expected trope, or at least if it doesn't meet it enough. Lastly, all of these tracks had to be approved by the company's CEO, and the criteria I mention is all a consideration for the tracks likelihood of getting placed; that track in question was actually originally rejected because they didn't like my original ending to it and two minutes is about the limit. Were this all done as a custom score for a film rather than production music, where I could see all the changes in action in the scene in real time, it would surely go through various different flavors, keys, scales, etc. But in the absence of that, delivering the highest quality, consistent track that fits the expectation set by the title is usually the best bet.

  3. Thanks!! Thanks, Peter! I've played Chrono Trigger -- there is some Yasunori Mitsuda influence for sure. ^_^ Hmm, I'll try experimenting with full arrangements, though it does get much harder with 3+ instruments, it might take a while haha. Yeeah, totally agree, it's always a challenge to introduce change in a smooth way. Ooh, now that you mention it, I remember that some songs stop the rhythmic elements, then play the main theme slowly with minimum accompaniment, and it sounds really pretty -- I should definitely try that. ^_^

  4. Hi @Guardian25, I never heard the term unfigured bass haha! The only error I notice is in b.12 where there’s a parallel fifth between T and B, and in b.5 second chord usually for a diminished chord the third (G) would be doubled instead of the root (E). Henry

  5. Hello I think this piece is very captivating and well written. What I would like to point out, although it is a personal issue perhaps, is that in a piece of this length, let's say standard, the fixed eighth note accompaniment pattern throughout can get a bit monotonous. One should always try to look for the contrast, but address it in a safe and really transitional way, which is not easy sometimes. That's why, and I say this from my own experience, we stay in a fixed pattern.

  6. Hello @BC345! Very beautiful and nostalgic piano writing! If your melody had more unity it could serve as a very memorable and inspirational theme for a video-game! I know I've said this about your music before but it really reminds me of Chrono Trigger - especially the ending at the fair music which has a very similar vibe to your piano piece. Have you ever thought of writing a piece with more instruments but with a piano lead like in this piece? It could be even better! Thanks for sharing.

  7. Congrats on the album! I think I've heard some of these before, so I dug around on your YT page and checked out others. You're quite the producer, it all sounds superb. Well done!
