  1. It's time for the annual Young Composers Christmas Music Event! The Brief Same as ever year - write anything inspired by a winter celebration (e.g. Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa) or just Winter in general (or Summer for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere). If you want to participate, pop a comment below! You could have a look at last year's competition for inspiration if you like: As usual there are no prizes and everyone's a winner. You will however, be rewarded with a beautiful badge designed by our very own @PeterthePapercomPoser. Submissions are open now (8th December). Submissions will be included in this thread. There is no deadline, though preferably your piece should be done before Christmas or at least before the end of December. What are you waiting for? Get composing!

  2. Hello This is a very simple piece. I want to express how I think these weeks are going to be for me. Greetings.

  3. An interesting work. I don't know if you mean it's going to be a concerto for harpsichord and orchestra, or as is. I liked it very much, especially the middle movement. The end of the Prelude I find a bit out of style because those big, fireworks-like arpeggios are more of late romanticism than the style that comes out here. In the Chaconne there are some chords that sound a bit harsh, as in measure 11 and following. They sound more like clusters than chords with a baroque feel. For although the work is chromatic in some parts, it is still tonal and very classical. Thanks for posting.

  4. Simple and expressive - I really like pieces of this kind. To me, it feels sombre but not overly so, perhaps as if controlling that feeling or just waiting. I like the title too. Are you playing the piano here?

  5. Hi @Luis Hernández! Another wonderful example of yours using the tintinnabuli technique! I like how you use the M-voice always in 3rds. You start with the M-voice in the right hand and the T-voice in the left but soon enough, as the piece develops you intertwine and exchange the position of the voices. Looks like, towards the end you also double the T-voice with 6ths. And the piece is written in free meter akin to Messiaen. Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays!
