Is it possible to use a X stand without any bench? What are the practical differences between a keyboard stand and a keyboard bench? I'm a beginner and have totally no idea which I should get. Thank you!

This digital Piano, Yamaha Piaggero NP-V60 (http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/digitalkeyboards/dk_-_piaggero/np-v60/), has both MIDI port and USB. Do you think I can do that using only the USB? Sorry for being stupid. :toothygrin:

I know basic music theory and want to learn composition. I want a keyboard which I wish can both sound on its own and be used as a MIDI controller. Since I'm a beginner, I think I'll be satisfied starting with a less expensive one with not many fancy features. Could someone give some suggestions, please? By the way, while I'm looking at different keyboards, I'm really confused how they are connected to a computer. I notice many keyboards feature USB. Does that mean I can connect the keyboard to the computer to use as a MIDI controller simply using a USB cable? Or only the MIDI port can do that and I have to buy a MIDI-to-USB cable? Thank you!
