  1. Video of me performing "Singularity" on drums:
  2. Thanks! I definitely wanted to do a sort of minimalistic song where there aren't really any distinct sections of the song (chorus, verse, bridge, etc.) - not really my writing style though. I tried to mix it up with the time changes in the middle, which make it a lot of fun when playing it live..I'll upload the live version soon. I really appreciate the feedback!
  3. Wrote this piece with the idea of a person being suspended in some sort of fluid, preferably water. Kind of went along with the single rhythmic idea. Perhaps get's a bit monotonous, but I (sort of) wrote it with that intention. Open Water [MIDI]
  4. Slightly reworked.Changed ensemble to be for 2 (or 3) guitars, bass, and drum kit. Much easier to hear all the instruments than live recording(s). The Self [MIDI]
  5. Combine this and Enoch....?
  6. Ferk, this reminds me of Sun O))) so much, with some extra levels too it (confusing I know, but I hope you know what I mean). I love it. Subtle background spoken vocals and hints of distorted guitar are great. Please write an album inspired by this. I'm loving this right now.
  7. Wow! I love this Sonovice! Truly a piece in which I am saddened when reaching the end (because I want it to keep going!). I think that you could very easily elaborate on the three ideas you have here (which I would guess to be "lying in grass" "strange noise/sense of adventure" and "running up hill") and drag them out to create an EPIC piece of music!! I am in love with the melody for the "lying in the grass" part - it is so incredibly beautiful. Then with a wonderful transition, you're into the adventure part and finally onto the boy running up the hill (reminds me of pirates of the Caribbean). PLEASE make this piece longer and elaborate on these ideas...I can picture this being a 20 minute piece (the boy is in slow motion!). The description is great and really helped me to understand what you were thinking of while writing. Thanks! (btw I just finished my fourth listen).
  8. Dig the video man! Cool concept, and the scoring goes along with it in a really natural way. Leaves the viewer wondering about Diary III! I like the percussive hits to emphasize certain points in the video.
  9. I can certainly hear the Pokemon influence! Many of the instruments sound similar to those used in the Pokemon games. I like the use of the Hungarian Gypsy scale...it starts to sound a [i[little[/i] forced at around 1:30...I imagine writing melodies in this scale is somewhat difficult. Keep working with this scale, it sounds good!
  10. I really dig this, man. Are all the instruments MIDI? It has a sort of Hotel California feel for me, but I love the laid back and instrumental style. Somewhat of a video game feel to it too...groove stays the same overall and it feels easy to get into. I like that some of the melodies come back and give it some familiarity too.
  11. “Vinyl sails in on her shining wings as the spinning sun returns. She is the season-shifter, bursting from her cocoon to sing the ancient song of vernal yearning and to summon spring’s sweet green return… Her metamorphosis becomes our own. Her thirsts are shared by all. Drink in her mysterious elixir as the revolution blooms again…” - Magic HatWritten for my senior recital. Ensemble (including myself on drum kit) only had a few rehearsals before the performance. Vinyl [Live Recording]
  12. An individual person as the object of his or her own reflective consciousness. In Psychology, it is the study of either the cognitive and affective representation of one's identity or the subject of experience. This piece attempts to explain the self through music.Written for my senior recital. Ensemble (including myself on drum kit) only had a few rehearsals before the performance. The Self [Live Recording]
  13. A gravitational singularity is a point in space-time in which gravitational forces cause matter to have an infinite density and zero volume. This piece is inspired by the chaotic beauty of what a singularity is.Written for my senior recital. Ensemble (including myself on drum kit) only had a few rehearsals before the performance.Playing it live to MIDI on YouTube: Singularity [Live Recording]
