  1. Hello everyone, i had a sudden burst of inspiration with this one, and quickly wrote this half of a piece, and so i didnt really think about structure and also i have lost direction, i want to return the main theme but i am not sure how. what do think should be done ? any suggestions or comments at all ? I._overture.MID Cello_Serenade.mid
  2. This piece is just a short piece i wrote after listening to a few musicals, nothing related to musicals though yeh... Piano_Song.mid Swung_with_no_Swing.mid
  3. bumping it up as i've had no replies. Please, what do you think ?
  4. Thankyou guys sooo much for this feedback it means a lot to me and is really helpful. First of all, i had a time limit on the chaconne of 2 minutes, so i had the kind of cut it short. With the Dance, I focused ALOT on each note to make sure it fits, I don't personally think there are notes out of place but thats because i have listened to it so many times. Also, in this respect I don't think i saw the forest from the trees so as a whole i think that is why maybe the form doesn't work too effectively. But yeh thankyou VERY much for the comments
  5. i don't know about pirates of the caribbean but it definetely sounds like movie music, good contrast between sections, and also between the slower parts and snare drum, i thought was cool. i liked the fast section at the beginning and consistant ostinati. I liked the use of horn in the piece. I thought the introduction could have linked differently with the next section, but of course i am probably wrong that's just my opinion, hope it helps
  6. hey can you put a MIDI and/or finale file up, just cause of the file size for us slow internet connection folk, and also so i can see the music, hehe that would be cool
  7. A few 20th century composers that i know wrote heaps for percussion are Ross Edwards( wrote alot of solo marimba pieces, "Dragonfly Dances", "Marimba Dances"), and Nigel Westlake, "Omphalo Centric Lecture". Carl Vine wrote a awesome Percussion Symphony, and i think Matthew Hindson is currently writing a percussion concerto. that's all i really know off my head :(
  8. Hey all, I based this piece on a kind of mental image of a dark cave. It does sound kind of jazzy but it is very dark. It has a nice intro that contrasts with the main theme. What do you all think ? hhhff.MUS Caves.mid
  9. Hey all, This piece was very fun to write, because it is in 5/8. It took me a long while to write it, compared to my other pieces. However, i don't think that i placed enough emphasis on the beat groupings of 5/8 but oh well i think its cool. I like the change to the second theme though, but let me know what you think. The second piece is a chaconne based on a little 4 bar theme going through the chords (in Gmaj) I, VI, V, IV Let me know what your impressions/suggestions are, please ;) Symphony_no_1.MUS Symphony_no_1.MID 1._Wind_Quintet_in_E_min___Dance.mid 2._Wind_Quintet_in_E_min___Chaconne.mid

  12. i am just asking how to attach files thats all, sorry.
  13. Hey all, I am pretty sure that anyone can help me; i can't quite figure out how to attach files like midi files and such to my post. I select the file i want and then click "Add this attachment" but it just creates a little HTML tag that names it. I am new to this site and i wonder if maybe someone can explain this to me. thanks!!
