  1. Thanks :) I wish I could go back when I had first done it and written out a score, but that seems impossible now. I put this up rather than one of my composed pieces because (to me anyway) my improv pieces are much better than my composed ones
  2. Hello all, I'm pretty new here and this is my second piece that I've posted. This one is a completely improvisational piece that I made on the fly as I was testing out the capabilities of my computer mic. The quality of the recording isn't that great to say the least, but I don't think it's unlistenable. I simply opened up the top of my piano and dangled the mic inside. To listen to the piece, go to purevolumeā„¢ | Colin Kohtz and click on the song entitled "Improv #1," which should be below the song "Georgia." I now have some semi-professional recording software/hardware, but alas this piece was recorded before that time and the ghettoness of the software shows several times in the piece; there is for whatever reason random computerized bass notes that I DID NOT want in there (even though they are on key somehow), and they occur at 0:53, 1:20, 1:49, 2:18, 2:45, 3:14, and 3:42. As this is an improvisational piece there were some notes out of key on accident, and these occur at 1:16 and 2:30. Thank you for listening, and any comments/criticisms are welcome :) I haven't had any sort of classical training, so I don't know how this is going to compete with your guys' music
  3. Very, very nice :ermm: What did you use to record the instruments?
  4. Thanks for the response :) Yeah, I've heard a couple complaints from people who I showed the piece to (mostly friends and family, so I probably didn't get that much in the way of objective judgements) regarding the inability to make out the vocals, but my recording software isn't the greatest and if I had turned them up any higher the instruments would have been too muted. I recorded it using a keyboard, two electric guitars, one bass, and FL studios for the drum parts, all recorded using my old Line 6 Toneport.
  5. I'd like to think of myself as more of a classical composer but I've had this song on my computer collecting dust for a while and hopefully I'll get some constructive feedback on it. This is probably my best piece in the more modern musical genre. This is also my first post on this forum :whistling: purevolumeā„¢ | Colin Kohtz Thanks for the imput :P
