  1. So for this semester, our university's chamber choir sang compositions which contain the Ave Maria theme. It is a tradition that at the end of the semester I would write a piece based on the theme. So here is my version of Ave Maria for SATB. http://h1.ripway.com/minhman13/ “Ave Maria”.pdfPDF MIDI Two pieces that somewhat influenced this composition are: 1. Gorecki's Totus Tuus 2. Bruckner's Ave Maria's Question: How would classify this piece? (renaissance, baroque etc.) Enjoy & Thank,
  2. It's time for celebration! =) I am so glad that I brought an external hard drive.
  3. It had been awhile since I roam among this forum. So in celebration of my return, mainly I am the one who is celebrating, I will post a choral piece that I finished a week ago. lol. My chamber choir is singing Thomas Morley's my bonnie lass and PDQ Bach's My bonnie lass she smelleth. Being influenced with these pieces, I wrote my own bonnie lass. I combined the texts of the two works and used a few compositions techniques I got from them throughout my work. It's completed. But I am looking for inputs, any inputs I gladly take, to improve the piece. I like it as it is now. But there are always room for improvement. Also, I mainly go with my ears. Anyway, Thank you. 4. Though this has nothing to do with ADD, since someone did mentioned bi-polar, according to my psychology textbook, Handel was mildly bi-polar. That is why he was able to compose Messiah in two weeks. Usually someone who is in the maniac state of bi-polar tends to have more creativity than usual.
  5. O this is really hard. But here are some of my absolute favorites. Allegri Gregorio - Miserere mei, Deus Bach - Mass B Minor (All); Erbarme dich from St. Matthew Passion Beethoven - No. 9 symphony Chopin - Nocturne in C# minor Dvorak - 'From the New World' Symphony (no. 9) Mozart - Requiem, Mass in C minor, Don Giovanni, Marriage of Figaro, Magic Flute & all of his compositions. Palestrina - Missa Ecce ego Johannes Tchaikovsky - Symphony no. 6; Piano Concerto No. 1
  6. That will cost like a fortune.
  7. dear teacher, You put me to shame when I listened to your works. :) WOW! When will I ever be this good (prob never). Obviously, it would be rude to criticize your works and I don't really have anything productive to criticize about. But I must say I love Valdemar! It evokes this eerie feelings that I really love. Anyway, love to hear more stuffs from you... Minh
  8. when will this thing actually going to start? are we in the process of waiting for qualified teachers?
  9. I agree with Marius. I was def. depressed at that time. so I guess the ninth did feel freer than other music.
  10. this morning I showed my choir pianist my piano composition. She like the composition. Sadly, she said that part of the melody sound similar to another composition. Weirdly I felt like I was a failure for not being original. lol I am so random..
  11. I cried when I heard the entire ninth for the first time. I never feel so free. My favorite symphony of all time.
  12. I don't mind to be a student. Someone be my teacher... =)
  13. my goodness where do you go to school? I need to go there :D I can't never do that... I admire your courage and skill
  14. All the replies are encouraging. Well at least I am not the only one. I'm a senior in high school now and it is the last semester; so I guess I should take advantage of my senior slide. But it's a private school and pretty strict so I don't know how that going to work. OH well! I guess I will have to cut back on other activities, like watch less TV or internet. lol
  15. Now that school had resume for me after x-mas break (well more like 3 weeks ago actually), I find that it is harder for me to find time to compose. I simply do not have time. I like to compose daily, or at least doing something musically, but school and homework seem to take up the majority of my available time on weekdays. When I do not have homework, I find myself too tired to generate any musical ideas. Weekend wise, I do try to compose; but after days of not doing anything, I become rusty (musically). Sometime I think I am just making excuses or just being plainly lazy. :ninja: So how do you balance your times? I just need some advices. thanks for reading! Pardon the English, it sucks!
