  1. Hey :) Yeah altered is really the first try I did with the altered scale. I'm working on that a bit, I'll come back to you when I get a better grip on it. I don't see where there is dissonance in the first one though, as I was quite careful to use run off the mills voicings, I don't even think there is a 9 in there somewhere. Or maybe you mean the weird funk style chords on the piano fill near the end?
  2. Hello, I know I'm only a lurker on this forum, but here is some things I have been working on. I work mainly on electronic/dance-oriented music, but I've been dabbling a bit into Jazz for my band. I think the thing that is most appropriate for this forum is a folk song (actually the local football club anthem) I arrangefor big band, it's gonna get played by band soon: http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/badnerlied4.mp3 http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/badnerlied4.pdf I have also been trying to write some stuff for my band (I Play bass, we are drums, keyboards, bass, saxophone), this is what I've come up with but it's too complicated I guess: http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/altered.mp3 http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/jazz-test1.mp3 I'm working on arranging standards right now, to get acquainted with the sax/piano/bass combo, which is difficult for me, I'll keep you updated. Also my stuff as I said is more elctronic/computer orientated, where a lot more things are possible as it's not actually played by someone, here are some examples (only listen if you're interested in electronic music, those are not compositions per se): http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/la-plagne-1987.mp3 http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/wicked3.mp3 Funnily, arranging for big band was much easier and like the electronics work I do than writing for the small combo. Cheers, Quasimodo
  3. Thanks, I'll take all this into consideration for the next ones :) Tied notes where shown as ok in the webtext I had, basically it's just the repeated notes tied. I now about the one sixth down jump which I chose to keep because i thought it sounded pretty nice. I'll try to work on more contrary motions, more 6ths, and try less jumps or sraighten them out.
  4. Hi people, I have been reading this forum for some weeks now, and I've just started learning counterpoint.
