Hey, how goes it? This sounds up to date allright. :) A bit to much soloing perhaps and there should be vocals of some kind on it maybe It reminds me of gothic rock there is a fairly succesful Dutch gothic rock group called "Within Temptation" http://www.within-temptation.com/ Hope this helps. Hey M=D, Thank you!!! Well composing is composing ennit? Hahahahaha!! Be it classical or otherwise. Taste is another matter of course. I'm also glad to be here and get some opinions from other musicians also those who have more experience with it. Usually jazz and classical musicians tend to have another approach towards music than , for excample, a pop musician. Coming from that direction myself I would like to hear this opinions so there you go. I like Bach by the way..... a lot. I'm certainly no expert in classical music but I do hear immediately when a piece is from Bach. Also if I don't even know it I seem to be able and recognize his style. So maybe there's hope for me still, hahahahahahaha!!!! With kind regards, P-Alpha. -

Hey Mithius, How goes it? I've put answers in between your words. Thanks! I appreciate it for sure!! For me it's great you say this especially about the percussion break, I tried to stretch the rhythm as far into the limit of the measure as I could. Many say it's out of focus but I do think it's allright still. I'm glad you notice this to. I was getting a bit worried about it you see :-) Also I do find ways to mix/fuse things together. My ultimate goal is to mix/fuse things in a way that one can in fact hear different melodies/tunes etc. as a kind of song in a song. Still got a very long way to go though. I find the tracks far, far to rough at the moment could much more subtle. Also for as far as mixing/producing is concerned. There's hope however :-) I've only just startted out with this, hahahahaha!!! Indeed, that is what I tried to achieve, arabic style mixed with western style music. At the page where I stashed my tracks there is a button next to the tracks which says: "view song information". If you click it you'll find some info about the inspiration for the tracks, if you're interested of course. Yes right again, they are genuine whale sounds. The "stretching out" of the song is done on purpose. While I was busy with it, it occurred to me that I was trying to catch in music the tsunami that hit earlier. But thatn not the misery because of it but the wave itself and it's birth. So my goal is that this track takes you down into the ocean to the actual undersea quake that was the cause of the tsunami ( hence the whales and "cracking"sounds). I used actual whale sounds and the actual sound of a glacier breaking up for the eefect sounds. Usually I'm not useing samples nor midi. I play all myself and "live". I do find that a solo form maybe sax of trombone and a little guitar here an there could enhance the tracks. Also because I'm actually a bassplayer not an multi instrument kind of guy. :-) Thanks dude!!!!!I do appreciate this very much. With kind regards, P-Alpha. -

Hey all, First of all I do hope 2006 will make some of your (musical) dreams come true. Keep on practising and recording dudes :-) I do know this year starts well for my tracks. They are at place 4 now and going up to 14.000 streams and uploads. Never expected that. Thanks to you and your feedback??? Since I can't seem to find musicians over at my side of the planet, perhaps there are people here who want to (virtually) participate in the project? Must be users of Cubase SX though. Kind regards, P-Alpha. -

Hey, How goes it? Yes wow indeed. Never expected that myself. Thanks for your link to other bands I'll try and get hold of some of their music. The next track will probably be something with it's base in African/Senegalese music. Don't ask me why , I just go with the flow or at least try to :) You're maybe right about what you say about melody. I did decide to bring it out there still. I left out much of what I thought would be diminishing the tracks as they are now. Also becuae my abilities on other instruments than bass guitar are limited. The best thing would be if I could find other musicians/composers on line in "the real world" in order to finish the pieces. As said I consider them good enough to bring out in the open but they could be seen as base tracks in need of some input as well. And I guess I wasn't all wrong in thinking that since there are already over 7700 streams and downloads as we speak. Incredible, I still find it hard to believe. In fact this makes me wonder if I should approach a record company or label with my tracks. But I'm totally ingnorant in that field. Do you or any of the members here have experience with that? If so I would be much obliged for any advice or links, adresses and such. Thanks for the comment :) With kind regards, Adrian ( P-Alpha) :D -

Hey, Project Alpha has made it into the TOP 10 of the site where its music is situated for streaming and downloads.;) Not bad when one considders there are more than 500 bands there and twice or triple the amount of tracks. Never thought it would go that way If you want to check it out go to : http://www.radioindy.com Scroll to the bottom right, Project Alpha is at place 8(and rising). There are over 6700 streams and downloads registered and still the meter is counting :) I would like to thank everyone who helped me with feedback and those who just enjoy what I'm trying to do with Project Alpha. Want to listen/review/download? Go to: http://www.radioindy.com/jamroom/bands/1054/music.php With kind regards, P-Alpha. :D -

Hey there Wolf_ :) How goes it? I'll answer between the quotes. You can call me P- anytime, hahahahaha!!! You know, about the monotone thing I tend to agree with you but I decided to let it stay. These three pieces are the first I ever did and Deep Down Under is the very first. I just started late april doing this. Still I have given it some thought as to the monotone-ness but I found that once I gave the chance to myself to just let me flow with it, it got something I did not want to change. But I do understand your critisizm. When I was working on it it suddenly grabbed me that I was getting inspired by the tragedy that hit Asia, it being the Tsunami. I was shocked actually but at the same time I had the concept ready in no time once that ( the tsunami)popped up. The sounds are a part of that concept, genuine whalesongs and the genuine sound of breaking glaciers as earthsnapping sounds. That tsunami was born out of a sub-oceanic sea quake and I have tried to shape the piece so that it is like a underwater journey to the moment and place of that seaquake. Whereafter the wave is born and begins to travel under water followed by the music once again until it surfaces and destruction is its result. Yes it is morbid but true. And horrible. Thanks!!! You get the percussion, cool, thank you :( !!!!!! Many say it doesn't fit rhytmicly but I know it does. I think I stretched the line as far as it could but not too far. I'm very glad you like it. When people say it's wrong one starts doubting no? Thanks and yes, all that you van hear is played and sung by me, no samples ( except the odd sounds on Deep Down Under) or midi used. Well for me you provide a lot of constructiveness(?) , you give me confidence and courage to move on with this, thank you very much. With kind regards, P-Alpha -
Hello, How are things? I am a bassplayer from The Netherlands and I've recently started recording under the name Project Alpha. The first reviews were encouraging but the project is looking for more feedback. Hence I post this message here as well to ask you all to take a moment and go listen and give your opinion/feedback. My question is also in what style this music should be fitted, is it modern day jazz, fusion, funk, lounge, new age or what? As said I'm a bassplayer originally but in this project I play all instruments one can hear so far, record and produce all things myself, no samples used in the music. Accept maybe a drum machine which I programmed myself, played the pattern in live so to speak. As a bassplayer I'm not a real solo player on keyboard for excample and I find there is room for that still in my work. Trombone maybe in the first piece. Mainly I try to create a certain atmosphere in my songs rather than make a pop song kind of thing. I think I still have to learn much so any help is welcome. If you are interested please go and listen at: http://www.radioindy.com/jamroom/bands/1054/music.php I put three pieces there. The top one called Soaring Eagle I just finished recently. Since response is quite good I'm looking for exposure to, any ideas how I might be able to realise that? I'm quite new at this ye know. Thanks in advance and with kind regards, Project Alpha.
