  1. 1) Beethoven Symphony 9 "Choral" 2) Beethoven Symphony 5 "Fate" 3) Mendelssohn Symphony 4 "Italian" 4) Schubert Symphony 8 "Unfinished" 5) Mozart Symphony 29 So hard to choose...
  2. @Frankie: Sure. So it would be optional. But I think we should keep the Christian's idea of a discussion on the winner. The partners can work together to touch up each others' pieces and finally submit it, even though if one of the partner doesn't want review, it is not required. I hope that that will be okay.
  3. Thanks all! I think these are good suggestions. @Austentite: I think I can do the pairings. @Frankie: Do you think I should put like reflection questions for the review of your partner's piece? Like, what is your favorite motive? Or what form do you notice? @Danishali:Good plan! @Christian Perrota: Yah! I love that idea! At the end, I can post a topic, maybe in learning, and we could reflect on it! I agree that would be a great prize!
  4. Hello, composers! The site has been kind of weak lately without the exciting competitions, so I plan to make this new one. In this competition, each composer will be paired with another composer, and each will submit a composition(pdf and audio) to the other privately. I recommend something easy and small! Your partner will review the piece(do so nicely, please!) and give feedback. After editing your piece, submit here, and I will decide which composition "team" had the best works, in my opinion. If it is for piano, I might try recording, but likely not. Guidelines: Work must be between 1-5 minutes. Keeping it short! Send partner PDF of score and audio. Does not have to be live recording DUE: Pending, likely in April Be nice in your feedback. Have fun! Partners: 1) Christian Perrotta--_______ 2) _______--_______ 3) _______--_______ 4) _______--_______ 5) _______--_______ I really hope this might be exciting and easy for all. Just wanted something exciting on the forums.
  5. Congratulations, Austentite! Your piece deserved to win! I listened to the recording and it was fantastic Sonataform! Well done! Well, now I guess I can break the rule of "The piece cannot already have a live recording, I want to be the first to record it!" Haha. Time to recording Fine Estate
  6. Thanks, all! I have seen that page on fugues, but I was just looking not only at the structure and all, but the actual process of writing it and playing it. But it still helps! @ChristianPerrota: Thanks for the sites! I am going to start reading. Fugue time!
  7. I was wondering about how to start writing a fugue? I understand they are hard to play, so is there a good process? I mean like composing in front of a piano kind of way. Help appreciated!
  8. I do attend sometimes. Not often, once in a few months. Usually I just look on the orchestra's web page and see what they're playing. If the piece sounds interesting, I will probably go to their concert. I usually don't dress up too formal, just like casual formal. Foods aren't really served, or maybe allowed during the concert. Most people have some knowledge of when to clap and all, and they are all quite polite. Yah. Overall, concerts by symphonies are quite great! I recommend you attend one.

  10. http://www.youngcomposers.com/music/listen/6875/prelude-fine-estate/ Done. Now don't always expect a good recording from me, expect good music. I hope you like it Sonataform.
  11. Sounds exciting! Mini Chamber pieces? Cool! I would like to compete!
  12. Yah! Please! I was waiting to hear some submissions, but I understand writing for orchestra is a daunting task.
  13. Ah Ah, I think I will win. I have this awesome melody. I am in! Gonna beat all you guys!
  14. Hey guys, I am dropping too. I am too busy and had a few weeks of a trip. I am really sorry. Anyone can take my spot. Good luck contestants!
  15. Thanks for clarification. Sorry, was a bit confused.
