  1. Hi!Here is an update of Nature awakes for piano solo. The piece feels finished for me. I also made a version of Nature Awakes for piano trio, I am going to start with making a recording now. Only problem is that I don't have good solo cello sample, the jam packs don't have them.http://www.andrevanharen.com/newmusic.htmAndré Nature Awakes
  2. Thanks! Feelings in a piece are of course very personal. I wrote the piece while it was snowing outside and it brought me in the mood of writing this piece, so this gave me the inspiration of calling it A Winter Tale. ps... plug, plug... for some reason I cannot start a new post, so I hope it's OK when I put my big news here: I am very happy to say that finally after about 2, maybe 3 years of writing, fine tuning and rerecording the music, I finished my piano album titled "Moments". "Moments" includes 13 movements, titled: 1. After work, in the night - 2. Cat's play - 3. On a summer day - 4. At work - 5. Who's there? - 6. Goodnight - 7. For Beatrice - 8. The lost child - 9. For Mateo - 10. For Isabella - 11. A winter tale - 12. The snow is melting! - 13. In silence. I played all the pieces and did the editing so it's exactly the way I want it to be, nice when you can have everything in your own hand. The layout of the sheet music is done in Sibelius 6 and the recordings in Logic 8, and I am very happy with the results! Please, have a look at my website where you can see and more important, hear the 13 pieces that are part of "Moments". And if possible, it would be great if you could leave a comment there, maybe still there is something that could be improved after all. http://www.andrevanharen.com/forpiano.htm thanks and best wishes! 3. Here is the second movement of my 2nd piano sonata. Much lighter in force but still with some dramatic moments. 2nd piano sonata, movement 2
  4. Hi! Thanks for listening to it, glad you like it. Beethoven's influence is so strong, I'm not sure it's possible to escape from him, but I like his music a lot so i am not even sure I want to! :phones: André
  5. Thanks! The switching back and forth is because of repeating the exposition. I thought more often about this and will take out this repetition, I believe it will work much better then. And yes, my parents were very happy indeed! André
  6. This is my second piano sonata, titled the "Golden Anniversary". I wrote it between December 2007 and February 2008 specially for the 50th, Golden, wedding anniversary of my parents; this sonata is dedicated to them. This is the second part: Moderato, molto espressivo. 2nd piano sonata, movement 1
  7. Thanks! Beethoven is my big favorite, I can't deny this. I studied him a lot in his way of creating structures and development of the material. Making a lot out of almost nothing is what I find exciting, it's a way of working that feels good to me. I tried out some different things in my second piano sonata, it's a little more closer to Brahms I think. But still very traditional in harmony and structure. I will post it later on. Of course I listen to other composers as well, I am always curious what everybody is writing. Thanks for the comment. André
  8. Here is the 4th movement of my 1st piano sonata, a rondo with a development section. sonata 1, movement 4
  9. Here is the 3th movement of my 1st piano sonata, a scherzo in the 19th century way, my favorite musical time period... sonata 1 movement 3
  10. Thanks! I went for simplicity here, not for development, I just wanted to create an atmosphere of telling a little tale without going into emotional depths. And the melody actually starts with my daughters name...
  11. Yes, I love f minor, I believe it's a perfect key on the piano. I wrote more piano pieces in this key. probably I could work more on harmony in this part, but there was so much on my mind while I was writing this movement while learning more about structure, I am happy it turned out like this.
  12. Here is the second movement of my first sonata. It's much more relaxed than the first movement. Sonata 1, movement 2
  13. Thanks! It was my first attempt in writing a real sonata.I am very happy with it.
  14. Piano sonata no. 1 in f minor, is dedicated to my daughter Laura Lee. I wrote it between April and August 2007 this is the 1st part: Allegro con brio Sonata 1, movement 1
  15. Thanks! I didn't put the key in the title myself, I agree with you that it doesn't work. This happened after uploading it on this website. Maybe I can remove it somehow. André
