Profile Information

  • Biography
I'm Jared. I started out goofing around with rap beats and vocals, which led to me trying out other electronic genres. Eventually in college I took a couple of music theory courses and it's been an adventure since! Love mixing, writing songs, and just being involved in the music industry in general.

I have no training sadly, just been me plinking notes into piano rolls in programs like Fruity Loops and eventually Logic Pro. The courses in college were just Music Theory 101 and 102. That was enough to propel me further than most "producers" in terms of rap and R&B, but I'm interested in taking it much deeper for my own enjoyment.

  1. You'll need to go into your software and configure the "Input Device" for MIDI. It's not going to be Plug and Play. Find your Settings and I can guarantee it's in there.
  2. I hear it a ton as I'm composing it, recording it, mixing it. Then I pretty much shove it in the archive and come back in a year or two when I've forgotten about it. Every few years I'll go on a binge and listen to most of my history in chronological order. It's quite the adventure and fun to hear the improvements.
  3. I'm not a master or even GOOD at any, but I'm best at guitar, then piano, and then ocarina (my true love, but so bothersome where I live. It's like harmonica. Hard to control the volume).
  4. I can't imagine that you're going to be able to pull this off, as the limitation is largely due to the span of the skeletal structure of your hand. I mean, can you expand your hand to where your thumb and pinky are in a parallel line with each other? And is this distance wide enough to plink out a 9th? If not, there's nothing that's going to change that.
  5. Happy to join Young Composers. Excited and about to upload my first piece!
