  1. I haven't had much influence from those few "Americana" composers. However, Eastern European composers such as Saariaho, Gubaidulina and Early Arvo Part have been extremely influential as well as a few Asian composers like Takemitsu and Satoh. :-)
  2. Thanks, it's funny though because today I received from the library Zelenka's Trio Sonatas. Which are excellently superb, I'm curious to listen to some of his vocal works.
  3. Mmmmm Corigliano, one who is also considered a "neo-romantic" is Jacob Druckman. You can listen to some of his works here. Art of the States: Jacob Druckman
  4. I like it and I think it'll be great for choir (instead of midi piano... ^_^), I have my doubt if you successfully avoided the Rutter/Whitacre vibe, if so, what steps did you take to not let that beautiful, ungodly, kitsch sound get into your ears?
  5. This is quite an old set, I started it a year or two ago and came upon it out of boredom and curiosity. I kind of like the material, so I may just as well edit it. (IT needs a whole lot of editing) {especially when it comes to setting the text and thinking about the singers capabilities....} Anywho, give me something constructive out of your own generous being! Three Characters I had set Hildrup Tubs Mabel Osbourne Ace Shaw *If you do not have finale and have a small or even large desire to hear I can convert it into a midi:blush: or a finale enigma file which works with Sibelius!! Spoon, Hildrup Tubbs B-piano.MUS Spoon, Mabel Osborne S-piano.MUS Spoon, Ace Shaw T-piano.MUS
  6. I just requested his music from the library, a few of his trio sonatas and his Missa Dei Patris.
  7. I don't know Zelenka, and I want to know more. Jan Dismas Zelenka - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This may be of help.
  8. Yep, www.myspace.com/ctalatta
  9. Toru Takemitsu is supreme! Other works noted to check-out are: Water-ways *(Especially this)* Fantasmos Quatrain
  10. Yes, it's quite a bit improper to label this atonal. Unless you used a system like dodecaphony in the similar manners of Alban Berg, then I'd give you the respect. Other than that, it's a nice piece because it evokes thoughts on a later Prokofiev and Shostakovich, but this may be just because of your rhythmic vivaciousness. :-P
  11. I'd say, from doing quite a bit of skimming, and if you're going to criticize music that is made today to first know a tad more about it. Get educated and go here to learn. Art of the States I suggest listening to anything that site has to offer.
  12. Congrats! Is it reminescent to Stravinsky's Opera "Nightingale"? Give me details about the Opera! orchestrations, singers, story line etc.
