      If you open this in a link in the Composer's Headquarter's, you will get more replies. As you have posted it as a 'status', it is only shown to people who look at your profile.

      Regarding the question, make the instruments equal. In the Classical era, too many string quartets were violins supported by string trio. 

      Use counterpoint, which really helps your lines be brought out.

      However, do not confuse your audience. Good voice leading will ensure they can follow the piece.

      My final tip (very clichéd 😀) is to not be afraid to fail! Post your piece in one of the forums and you will get much more personalised tips. The beauty of this forum is the wealth of different nationalities, musical cultures and ideals.
