  1. Thanks for taking a look! I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was an absolutely amazing experience for me and one that I will never forget. Playing with an orchestra is something I’ve never done before. your cadenza is also very beautiful with its rich harmonies and unexpected developments. Did you take some inspiration from Brahms’ cadenza?
  2. The cadenza begins at around 11:34. What do you guys think of it. I developed both melodically and harmonically the subject of the solo exposition and the second subject. I have to admit though the way I play in this recording is not the best and I may create a separate video of a better performance of my cadenza. This performance was for an end of school concert. What an amazing experience it was. what are your thoughts? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KIBKvZoYPB4
  3. Nice work. Just watch out for the parallel octaves at 2:45 (bar 45). If you're writing in the Baroque style, the rules of harmony are very important ( no parallel 5ths, parallel octaves, unresolved leading tones etc)
  4. I've taken a look at your scherzo for string orchestra. I love the theme and the chromaticism!
  5. Thanks for the compliments! I can't take credit for the unusual combination of instruments though because we had no other option (I wrote this over a week long music composition summer school at the Purcell school of music.) I had to find a way to make those instruments work together which was not an easy task!
  6. Thanks for taking a look! I don't play a stringed instrument myself so writing for strings and knowing their limitations is always a struggle 😞 I wrote this piece with a very motivic approach in mind. I do think perhaps extending the middle contrasting section to include more adventurous extended chords would be a good idea. Also, at 2:17 with the return of the fugue, it comes back in G minor, the subdominant of D minor. I guess there are some flaws in the structure of this piece because the fugue kinda repeats itself at 2:17 and 2:53. I'm for the feedback though. Do you have any compositions of your own on youtube?
  7. Thanks for listening! I actually composed this piece in a week long music summer camp where we didn't get to choose the instruments. I had to make the best of this very odd combination of instruments but I guess it worked out in the end! I've never heard that piece by Sweenlick I will check it out!
  8. thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The middle section with the low triplets played by the cello is really quite a weird bit of the piece 😄
  9. The piece starts off with an introduction before breaking off into a fugue with a highly chromatic subject. This piece was an experimentation in contrapuntal writing, tension and rhythm. Any feedback would be highly appreciated!
  10. Thanks for taking a look. I'm looking for feedback in general (eg. the emotional impact and fluidity of my contrapuntal writing). I feel like it flows when I drop the rhythmic intensity. I'm not sure what you mean.
  11. This is a Gloria movement from a mass I am working on at the moment. It is not finished yet but I would really like some feedback in regards to orchestration and my contrapuntal writing.
