  1. Sorry for the late reply. Could you please explain what you mean by segments? Like just break into a new line at each end of a theme? I appreciate your response!
  2. I had a solid idea of what I wanted to do by the beginning of the piece, but it started falling off so I had to wrap things up---something I have to deal with as usual. Any tips on expanding on a theme? I do wish I could've made the piece a bit longer and more expressive.

Is there a better workflow for creating ambient music (which is what I'm trying to do here)? I've always only used MuseScore + Audacity, but that can't be it. It's a bit frustrating, because sometimes I'd want the note to be held longer (especially in the end) but there's no way that I know of to do this. Of course, I got go back to the score and make edits, but this is a very consuming process. EDIT: Updated the file.
  4. Lovely piece. I liked it very much.
  5. A while ago, I discovered this piece, and from there, I got the inspiration to write something similar. I've developed a melody, but I really don't know what to do anymore. Any suggestions? I want to keep the mood and overall "improvisation" feel to this piece, just to add a sense of simplicity and organic-ness. I don't really like what I did around M12. However, I didn't know how to proceed. I share here the different versions.
  6. I have two versions of this piece. I decide to upload the latest one. Any feedback is welcome.
  7. Hi @Henry Ng Tsz Kiu, Thank you for your constructive feedback. I have fixed the anomalies that were found in the previous score. Any recommendations you have for composers who've composed in a similar style? I've been interested in adding more tension to the pieces I work on, and I'm not satisfied with how some of the tension in my score develops unexpectedly and rapidly. Thanks, BC
  8. Something I made a while ago and finished today.
  9. It's been a while, Sam! But as always, your work is always great to listen to. I liked it!
  10. I see! Thanks so much for the resource; I'll make sure to look into it. Also thanks for the feedback @Henry Ng Tsz Kiu!
  11. Hey, Daniel! Thanks for the feedback! Truth be told, I've been making these my first scoring something on MuseScore and then editing them in Audacity (really most of the time just reversing them and playing around), and so I don't have a good understanding of how the final product is going to sound. (That is, for example, you mention the abrupt stop in the beginning. Well, in the original score, it made more sense to introduce a short stop in there. But here, as you noted, it doesn't.) I'm planning on getting an actual DAW (technically Audacity is a DAW, I guess.) I already installed (basic) FL Studio but, by God, I haven't the slightest idea what to do hehe. (The UI is quite intimidating. How do I make a synth again?) About "timbral richness," what do you mean by that? I feel like my lack of knowledge is showing hehe
  12. This is actually based on a previous work of mine. It's an experiment that I didn't go too crazy with. I'm trying to give it a certain vibe, but haven't managed to do so. Anyways, enjoy!
  13. What I often find frustrating when I compose is that I cannot seem to be able to convey the emotions that I want to. Regardless of how much I try, I never seem able to make it clear what I'm trying to do. This piece came after a series of frustrating experiences, and I just gave up on trying to give it some meaning. I initially tried to give it some structure, some balance, some cohesion, but I couldn't; and so, I didn't. Maybe one day, but not today. Today, I couldn't.
  14. AHHHHH I LIKE THIS SO MUCH. THE MAIN THEME SOUNDS SO....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH That's it. That's all I have to say. I loved it!
  15. Thanks so much for the comments, Henry! There's actually no string instruments here, this was all done in MuseScore then moved on to Audacity, where a few (accidental) effects led to a string-like voice for the bass. Thanks for the kind words!
