  1. Better get those deeds ready. In a few years I'll be enjoying the views from your living rooms. :P
  2. Well.... Bach himself said that there was really nothing special about him and that any body who works as hard as him at puts in the same amount of time will be just as good if not better. With enough practise you can be just as good. If not better. Also this is not really a performance pices but an exersise for inversions of chords...as stated in the op.
  3. I wrote this exersise to help me hear the best possible chord inversion to go with my bass line for a composition. In this exersise there is a set of chords that modulates through keys, but every time it modulates it begins in a new inversion of the chord structure. SO the first pattern is played in root position on all chords, it modulates to a new key but this time it begins in 2nd inversion then modulates again and is played in 3rd inversion. Every other modulation the chrod pattern turn from minor to major on the last chord. The bass pattern stays the same for all keys except every other modulation where the pattern turns from minor to major. I am not sure how usefull it will be to anyone..but it has helped me. I wan tto learn how to compse like Bach. bach_3.mid
  4. i see....now i just have to figure out exactly where thi happens..i thought i kept the pattern consistent
  5. hmm...I am not too sure. Tempo and timing are my weeknesses. I am not sure you guys are aware but if you down load this free trial software... Note Worthy Composer NoteWorthy Composer - Download Evaluation You can drag and drop midi files to get the score for them. I'll try to get it into a PDF also this is really not a performance piece more of a study to show Dominant 5th progression, and the fingering options
  6. Well...here it is. It is not finished yet though...it starts on C and using just a Dominant 5th chord progresses through the major keys(in first inversion)...I had to modify a few to make it sound better though... I returned back to C, but then I decided to take it through the Flat keys but thats where it is not finished..after C it goes into one of the flats..but I will update tomorrow. I think this is a usefull exercise for anybody that likes Bach, or wants to learn about his music. Let me know what you think. -------------------------------------- Thank you for your comments. I posted the score...I think you guys may be right, but I cant place where this happens. bach_study_2.mid score_bach_study2.pdf
  7. finishing up Bach Study 2...it will be a simple 1st inversion, Dominant 5th progression going down..should be up today or tomorrow
  8. Thank you for the nice comments. I am working on study 2-4 should be up soon
  9. I have been independently studying Bachs music for about a year. I composed this exercise to help me understand the movemnet of melody. In time I hope to compose a whole set of small exercises. Let me know what you think. Update: I changed a couple of things..I thinkit sounds better now...hmm I'll try getting the score up in PDF pretty soon. My goal is to write 88 of these, to help others learn how to compose in a similar style. bach_study_1_c.mid
  10. Composed this last night. It a pretty simple peice. I am not sure if it flows too well. Let me know what you think and how to make it better. mini_prelude.mid
  11. just fixed the mistakes
  12. Thanks for the comments. you are right on about the mistakes...will edit.
  13. I am learning how to write a fugue. Here is a exercise I am writing, to help me learn to work with different voices. This piece has only 2 voices (theme and counterpoint) and is pretty mundane. same theme modulating to a dominant 5th of a given key. Its about 1/2 done....I am finishing the cannon that I am going to use to connect the two halves of the piece. Let me know what you guys think. Any suggestions are welcome. thanks... exersize2.mid
