  1. This should be performed, not sequenced, as with all piano music. It sounds way too mechanical. Especially the grace notes at :44. Either that, or offset the MIDI notes randomly by a few ticks in your DAW, most have this option, to give it the "humanized" affect. Nice piece though, easy on the ears.
  2. Hi guys, sorry it's been so long since I posted this, I work on a cruise ship so I don't have much time to be on the internet. Thanks for the comments though. Here's some more info on the piece: This was composed with the old EWQLSO Silver version (not PLAY edition) so yes the samples are quite shite compared to the new version if you ask me. This was also my first composition using VST's (I used to compose by point-clicking notes into Sibelius but the quality was terrible and there was no realism at all so I made the switch). lj_Parle you are absolutely right. That is something I'm constantly trying to improve is adding "realism" to my music. I find it much easier to do with the new PLAY version. Most of you have said that this isn't quite a "battle" piece and more of a storyline/level piece. Yeah, that's kind of the way Wesnoth works. It's a turn based strategy game based in a Rennaisance/fantasy time period, so the battles aren't as "epic" as the opening of Saving Private Ryan for instance, it's just slow paced fighting, move character here, attack this square etc. The prupose of music in that game is to provide an orchestral backdrop that fits into the time period without taking too much distraction away from the game, but still maintaining high quality samples, and interesting music to listen to. They enjoyed it and decided to include it. Well, thanks again everyone, I just finished some more stuff you can find here: Tyler Johnson Pianist Composer Cheers!
  3. http://www.tyler-johnson.net/Battle.mp3 This is a new composition I just finished for The Battle for Wesnoth, which is a free open-source game with very high quality music. Check it out if you want at Battle for Wesnoth Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and download the next patch because this song will be in the main storyline! -Tyler
  4. Well let me show you the comparison, there are almost double the accidentals when I apply the Db key signature to the beginning of the piece. I didn't know what else to do, really. Piano Study p1.pdf
  5. The intro was actually in A minor, not C (yes, same key signature I know, but different key). This wasn't a serious work, and my Sibelius skills aren't the best they could be. But as far as structure of the piece, I like the dynamics of the two parts, much like the opening of Beethoven's Tempest Sonata, 1st Mvmnt.
  6. I know it looks complicated from the PDF, but I assure you, it's just because of the absence of a key signature, but this was really the simplest way it could have been written. Keep in mind this recording was done in the first phase of composition, right after I completed it, which was about 2.5 years ago, and I JUST finally put this into Sibelius, so they vary slightly, and my technique is slightly worse than this piece demands. Hope you enjoy it. http://www.tyler-johnson.net/pianostudy.mp3 Piano Study.pdf
  7. no mp3? I use Sibelius dude, and apparently it didn't like how you formatted the last page, I got an error when I tried to convert the .mus file.
  8. You guys remember that awesome game? Well here is a Piano Medley I arranged: YouTube - Final Fantasy VII Piano Medley And if you want to download the Sheet Music to print/play whatever, please feel free. http://www.tyler-johnson.net/ffviimedley Enjoy!
  9. I just updated the melodies, and tweaked a few clarinet/oboe lines, it sounds a bit more original now ;) www.tyler-johnson.net/underworld.mp3
  10. Hello, I haven't posted here in ages, but here's something new i've been working on for the last 2 nights, there is no mixing done yet, this is merely a MIDI bounce from Silbelius 4's Kompakt Silver sound set. Once it's all done i'll EWQLSO the thing:D Here it is, it's called Underworld (for now at least) www.tyler-johnson.net/underworld.mp3 I'm almost 100% positive that the flute/brass melodies are going to change, they are just "filler" for now...
  11. Hi guys, check out Victory, it's my newest piece called Victory. I wrote it yesterday and uploaded to myspace for you guys to check out. let me know what you think. www.myspace.com/tylerjohnsonpiano
