  1. Hi Henry, Thank you so much for your help, it has really helped me with my piece. I am almost finished, but I am struggling with a modulation in the middle section of the piece. Everything is complete apart from this; I can't find a nice key change to make it work. The section starts at bar 26, and is supposed to be a passing mode (E aeolican) to reach F major (I don't know the mode) https://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/f3cbe70d3b1962208582c3dca2c9d155c43e6eb3 Any more help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again
  2. Thank you! My teacher reccomended the harp, but only to play a scalic accompniment to help keep the tempo and such. Would you mind labelling my score with those modes you listed? Again, I know literally nothing about music theory - I am just going by what sounds pretty in my head, hahaha! Your feedback was very helpful!
  3. I have been writing this modal piece set by my teacher for class. It begins in dorian d, and my teacher suggested to write a 'B section' in aeolian a. Would anyone be able to help me with this, as in how to change keys and any good ideas for new melodic ideas? I have no musical experience whatsoever, I can't even read sheet music. the score is chared publicly, so any help / edits you could give me is appreciated. I am in high school and I really need these credits! https://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/0ee8bbcb84b56b861507d01ec272af7d74631b98
  4. Beautiful! - do you have a score we could look at?
  5. Very late to the party here, but i would love to hear more of this! Such a beautiful opening theme for a movement - Dorian makes the piece sound 'whimsical'
  6. The guitar is too sparse. You've written for an instrument with strings yet you never use them. At times the piano is janky and unneccesarry; consider replacing these notes and putting them into some chords for the guitar. The right hand on the piano plays some really awkward octaves, which makes the piece too full. This is very good, i assume you have written mostly by ear and not by what looks good on paper. The sound is lovely, and the melody is very sweet. An ABA structure is common for baroque pieces, modulate into the relative minor and write a new subject with scalic or chromatic countersubject.
  7. Sounds amazing so far - do you have a score I could look at? Its difficult to figure out some backround parts at times, although you have a lovely contrast between parts!
