  1. Very nice! I like the development and variation of the melody. It was all very coherent and flowed quite well. My only criticism is just to tone down a few sections here and their (excluding the big climax of course) to add a bit more contrast. Great work, it was nice to hear this!
  2. Great to hear someone that performs their own works! I'll give some feedback on the first couple of minutes: It has a great lively mood, but isn't afraid to venture into contrast. I think this is done well. The harmony sounds like a blend between older eras of classical music, and more modern soundtrack or even pop harmony. Which I think is executed well here, not jarring at all. The quieter, sustained section, I found myself having trouble following along. This could be the recording quality, or just a tad too much pedal. Either way, their is probably a simple solution to this to make that part of the movement shine through! Overall, great job with the mood and harmony, and keep it up!
  3. Thanks for the kind words! I always had my school band's numbers in mind when composing and orchestrating this piece, I treated it like a commission. I live in Canada, and most of our band traditions come from Britain and other parts of Europe, which could explain the similarities in band formation to what Spain traditionally uses.
  4. Thank you very much for the feedback! After reading through what you said, I focus on improving a few things. Dynamic contrast, of course, I will try to smooth out in a few areas, it's just one of my pet peeves to avoid using mp and mf in most situations. Regarding the use of double reeds, my school band has zero oboes, bassoons or any of their auxiliaries :(. If I could, I would add them for sure. Anyways, your feedback is greatly appreciated, and will help with improving the composition a lot!
  5. UnderworldFantasia_USSConcertBand_v0.5.pdf UnderworldFantasia_USSConcertBand_v0.5.mp3 This piece represents someone travelling through the underworld. It shows the mystery and fear surrounding such a place, but also the peace and restfulness that could be seen in it. I composed this piece for my school's November concert and it should hopefully be getting performed then! Anyways, I hope you enjoy this piece! Any criticism is appreciated, also.
