  1. The Stradivari works fine with F07. No need to upgrade just to be able to use it.
  2. According to Wikipedia a typical performance of Mahler's 3rd lasts around 90 to 100 minutes. A "typical" (it's not played very often) performance of Havergal Brian's 1st Symphony "The Gothic" lasts around 98 to 115 minutes. I'd say this is a strong contender to the title.
  3. Carl Nielsen: Phantasy pieces for Oboe and piano - Op. 2, No. 1 - Romance. This is in G Minor.
  4. You should consider Carl Nielsen's Violin Concerto. It is not very well known, at least not as known as it deserves to be, but none the less extremely good and, I believe, technically challenging. EDIT: Ah, OK, I see this advice is a bit "overdue" ;)
  5. Beat Kaufmann has written some tutorials on how to use VSL libraries - Pro Edition/Horizon & VI.
  6. Well, in my opinion it could and should be used a lot more. Why throw a part of the palette away for no good reason. A completely vibratoless clarinet part is often much more anaemic, than it has to be. Just listen to Richard Stolzman play Brahms, Beethoven and Mozart trios with Emanuel Ax and Yo-Yo Ma (Sony SK 57 499). You won't find a better argument in favor of clarinet vibrato.
  7. Actually, it is channel 10. :-)
  8. Up a few notes!? :) Are you aware just how hard a cello string hits you, when it snaps?
  9. Yes, he did. At least I think it is beautiful - I have not heard it in a long time.
  10. Thanks, Michel. I suppose I should have mentioned your cello sonata and even more the clarinet sonata, but I think I have embarrased you enough for the moment. We don't want you to get cocky. :) You can safely include his cello sonata. It is a wonderful work. And then there are the 3 gorgeous cello sonatas by Martinu. And of course Britten's cello sonata.
  11. Or how about Shostakovitch's cello sonata? In my opinion a true masterpiece of the 20th century.
