  1. It sounds much like rain on a window. Great movement without feeling propelled. I like this a lot.
  2. Background: Lady Khsia Arminus is wife of Shield Captain Mladen Arminus of Gareth Keep. She is a knight and officer in her own right, serving in the Lance. She has not returned from a patrol, nor been seen or heard from since. Her husband and the knights search for her, hoping to find her alive. Womens' chorus (SA) with occasional splits in the soprano part. lament for lady khsia.MUS lament for lady khsia.MID
  3. This was written for the young skald (from my earlier post The Secret In The Forest) who thinks she has lost her love. She considers what future she may or may not have. I am not sure about the harp accompaniment, but it seemed a fitting sound for the setting and content. Lo, the river flows away.txt riverflowsSSA.MUS riverflowsSSA.MID
  4. Okay, I think I have the tenors off their toes and have undone some (but not all) of the accidentals and lead changes. Further advice? Into Spring2.MUS
  5. This was the first choral piece I had written, the melody and harmonies were just in my head, so I'll have to work backwards on the lyrics, much as I know that's more difficult. Yes, you are right about the tenor part. I've already begun a rework on it based on pianoman216's comments in my other thread. I promise when I'm done, the tenors will be more comfortable. I will also work on the counterpoints. Thank you for the suggestion on pulling an alternate from another part. Thank you very much for your suggestions.
  6. Actually, I never had a theory class, and in fact, haven't sung much for about um..20 years ;)..so any help at all is greatly appreciated! I pretty much work with my ears.
  7. Thanks for explaining..I'm theoretically challenged. *sage*
  8. Thanks for your comments, Okay! We know tenors love the attention, eh? :P What's better for them, G maybe? I'm very inexperienced with composing (and i was a first soprano to boot :P) this being only my second choral piece, switching voice lead...too much, yes? But what is just right? I'll look at the accidentals and intervals and put my ear to work to fix. Thanks again for your constructive ideas. - Paulette
  9. Y'know, spring never arrives all at once, but starts and stops a few times. Hopefully, the difference between leftover winter and spring is obvious, even before lyrics. Is there too much winter in this, and not enough spring at the end? .MUS and .MID attached. Into Spring.MUS Into Spring.MID
  10. Thank you for responding! Y'all are so wonderfully talented, I get excited when someone comments on my work. I think I'd better study theory in my advanced years. :P Thanks again, I'll set to work on that.
  11. I'm really not sure where to take this SATB piece I've begun, or even what mood it sets for others, so lyrics pose a problem. ;) I'd love some suggestions on what alternate melody I might work in to it, to stop it from being boringly repetitive. .MUS and MID (in all its mid glory) attached. Thanks. hmmmchoir.MUS hmmmchoir.MID
  12. I hope you will not think me arrogant, as I know you were working on lyrics, but I've not seen them posted. I've added a lyric of my own, and hope it's at least consistent with your beautiful melody. Green hymn.MUS Green hymn.txt
  13. Well, it's more hesitation than a breath in my head. The lyric at measures 7,15, and 39 asks a question, so it's more than a breath..at least to me..but, you're right, the staccato sucks..so how about I change the dotted quarter to a quarter, and slip an 1/8 rest behind it? That feels more like the question I meant it to be.
  14. Yes, I agree, they do sound more harsh replicated here than they sound in my head. I'm extremely new putting things from my head onto "paper". Do you have a better suggestion for notating the hesitation I feel belong in those three spots?
  15. Thank you for your kind comments Here ya go, green_minstrey This is the updated MID after alterations and dynamics. Lyrics are posted above with the old MID file. The Secret in the Forest.MID
