  1. It's been slow, but I'm still kickin' Jingle Bell Rock
  2. Yeah, like I said, if I try to load it, I just get an error like "Could not load (unknown error)" or something like that.
  3. So, I just got GPO and I love it. Really makes the music come to life... problem is, I'm arranging Christmas music (see chamber music section) and you can't have half the Christmas songs there are without sleigh bells. However, GPO doesn't come with a sleigh bell sample... that I can find anyways. So, I've come accross a sample and I have CDEXTRACT to convert it to Kontakt, however, the Kontakt player won't recognize it. But the full version does just fine... I need to get additional samples working with the in-program player and I don't know how.
  4. Sorry, I'll convert that to mp3.... GPO saves everythnig to wav... I'll get the others converted too... I just can't find any sleigh bells... I'm at a loss...
  5. Yay, I got GPO! Hark the Herald It seems that GPO doesn't come with sleigh bells... or maybe I'm missing them... any ideas?
  6. Yes, that's done on purpose. I feel like the paralell octaves used in certain areas emphasize the genre. I don't think I did this nearly as much on the other pieces, though... More to come...
  7. Merry Halloween! Some short work with bells. Carol of the Bells The First Noel
  8. I think I know what you mean. I've heard it played that way, 9/10 times I hear played the way I wrote it.
  9. Yeah, but not many people like soloing without a rhythm section. I know I don't. Maybe I could get some simple brush and ride action going.
  10. It was very haunting and I liked it very much. I have nothing negative to say and I think it fits that genre really well.

  12. Scores? I can do scores. However, you'll need the lastest version of Notepad or Finale 2007 to read them since I did these in Finale 2007. I guess you're right about the voicings. I was definately trying to go for different vocing styles, but I was doing it in a per-song basis as opposed to within a song. I don't really have time to come up with some really innovative ways of reinventing the Christmas-wheel. I need to arrange three Christmas Songs a week until the end of November so I'll have a decent repretoire. Some of them are transcriptions and some of them original arrangements. I'll tell ya, though, transcribing a single instrument is one thing, but discerning chords is TOUGH. I'll need to do it a few more times for the popular classics like "Jingle Bell Rock," and "Holly Jolly Christmas." 14. I've been playing trumpet for nearly eight years and, although I don't have my horn handy to try those lines, I can soudly say that playing sixteenth note ocatave jumps at 120 in semitone intervals is no easy endeavor. The second part would definately be more difficult since the register is much lower. I might be able to play the first part if I worked at it for a while, but it would be some time before it would be really clean. The second part is almost always to going to sound really muddy at that tempo, but like I said, there are some really amazing trumpet players that can do it. If you can, then much respect to you, not easy to play.
