  1. Glad you liked it dude :)
  2. We grabbed a drummer, a bassist and a pianist and gave them a sheet and recorded them ;) They were in a hurry so they faked alot. We then spent the rest of the afternoon recording the horns one section a time, starting with the Saxes then Trombones and lastly the Trumpets. We tried to get around the "blending"-issue by changing our equipment as much as we could, which partly solved it. Our trumpetist changed her mouthpieces. Our saxophonist didn't have anything to change to so he played with his regular gear. I played the lead trombone with a King 2B with a Bach 12C. 2nd Trombone with the same 2B but with a 7C. 3rd Trombone with a King 3B 4th with a Conn 88H When we do it for real we'll have more time to plan and get it right (my solo was shite :P). But yeah it was fun! We're planning to do a "Best of Big Band"-esque album with all the classics like Take the A-train, Jumpin at the woodside, Lil' Darlin ect. :)
  3. We did a little experiment with our little 3-piece horn section. We wanted to see if we could record a big band in an afternoon. One man a section. No preparation time, sight reading galore! Here's the result! We think it went pretty well (sound-wise atleast, time/feel is perhaps not optimal as this was just an impromptu experiment) so now we're thinking of doing a couple more tunes for real and perhaps pulling an album together. http://soundcloud.co...l/jersey-bounce Please tell me what you think!
  4. This is a good saxophone player: These are bad saxophone players (especially that guy from 2:39):
  5. Donna Lee by Charlie Parker Ornithology by Charlie Parker Anthropology by Charlie Parker Confirmation by Charlie Parker (You see where I'm going?) ;)
  6. Thank you :)
  7. Thank you for the feedback. :) Great points made by both of you. I'll try to get a hold of that Roger Sessions score. Also, I sequenced the piece directly into Cubase so there isn't a score, but I'll try to convert it into one.
  8. A short music-cue I made as practice. I pictured a mafia funeral in 1930s Brooklyn. The piece is fairly simple as it's almost entierly centered around A-harmonic minor.I'm looking for feedback regarding orchestration, phrasing ect. and on how to expand the piece beyond what it is now. Tonys Requiem
  9. Jem, you hit the spot. I made it to just be a jam track. I made it to teach myself cubase.
  10. Let's hear what you folks have to say!
  11. should work now
  12. Download Asio4All. It will solve it.
  13. Thanks for the input and I agree with most of what you say, I choose the overall sounds I did because I wanted a little more modern gospel/hiphop'ish sound. But that's all in matter of taste I guess. The thing about the synth is that I don't have any midi controls (to control evelope ect) on my midi-keyboard, I just play and try to finetune as best I can in post-production. Yeah, my timing is off. I try my best to get as tight as I can without having to resort to too much quantization. I'm not a bass player per se, i'm a trombonist who plays abit of bass and keyboard as a hobby. Do you have any suggestions how I could've voiced the chords differently? As they are now, they're just standard block chords. main chord progression-voicings: Am9 (G, B, C, E), Bb13#11 (Ab, C, E, G), Am9 (G, B, C, E), D9 (F#, C, E), Dm9 (F, A, C, E), G13sus4 (same as the Dm9), Db9 (F, Cb, Eb), CMaj9 (E, B, D), E7#9 (G#, D, G) P.s I forgot. About the drums, I have a tendency to forget about th
