  1. Hi Dustin, thanks alot for your detailed response. (Overworld is actually the name of the place in the short story that this is based on.) Unfortunately I cant post a score because I'm self-taught,but I intend to focus on reading/writing scores in the near future using Notion software-(Thanks again Nikolas.) Dean.
  2. Hi,thanks again. I use Kontakt as a Plug-in in Protools for all my sample libraries including Platinum. Dean.
  3. Hey mark, thanks very much.I would feel lost if I had a score on front of me! That way of working is a total mystery to me,(at present), I totally respect that way of working too. Thanks again, Dean.
  4. thanks again vinz R. Platinum Pro XP is a truely brilliant library. Dean.
  5. Thank you so much! I normally use loads of brass so this was a first for me not to use any. Dean.
  6. Hi Pheonix, thanks alot! I played all the parts in via midi,I use Protools,Kontakt 2,Platinum pro xp etc, I wanted to base a composition loosely around the piano I know the sound and atmosphere I wanted to create and I decided on no brass pretty quickly. I started with the opening piano melody which is the baisis for the entire cue and looped that over and over constantly finding and quickly sketching (in midi form)new harmonies and ideas re dynamics and orchestration that would suit different instrumentation. I later flesh out and fully orchestrate the sketches, usually I end up with 4 or 5 sections that I begin to weave together, then I concentrate on the performance/dynamics and flow of the cue as a whole and work on the velocity of each note. Dean.
  7. Your right Nik!,...Thanks..forgot about that! (its still a great deal.) Dean.
  8. I'm not finished yet but You're very kind, thank you. yes Copland was big influence on this one,I really love his style. Dean.
  9. Thanks alot Vinz R! theres a sale on at soundsonline. if you want to buy Platinum Pro XP,nows the time,..its only $995!! it's normally $3190.00...thats 70% off!!...this offer ends 9th July, (if someone else you know wanted it too you could but it together and get it for only $500.00 each...you can authorize the orchestra to run on two seperate machines.) Dean
  10. Hi Untold, thanks!..that was the mood I wanted to convey,I'm deligted it came across! Dean.
  11. Hi Nathan, thanks alot! Dean.
  12. Hi Nik, yeah I was curious because I hear that name alot but I'm very happy with the combination of Libraries I have at present Platinum Pro XP SamBrass (I use this for 90% of all brass now.) Truestrike 2 is a great compliment to the Platinum percussion section Some VSL (Kontakt 2 version)I think VSL is underrated by EW users because its a dry library but it has a very natural/realistic sound with the right reverbs it works well with EW. I plan to look into Westgate for WW's and Horns(again thanks NIk) Dean. (Nik,My entry for CG comp uses all of the above with RA which will give you a good idea of how they work together.)
  13. Hey Nathan, just sayin hello,Nik lured me here as well..like a sexy greek siren... I just could'nt resist! As I said over at CG great improvement re mix and articulations, well done. Dean.
  14. Hi Vinz R, thanks for that, just curious. I use EW Platinum Pro XP which is 140 GB's on an External G-RAID FW800 Hard drive and a Mac G5 Quadcore 2.5Ghz with about 6.5 Gb RAM which is a bit of a waste since all applications can only use 2-3 GB's max at present. Dean.
