  1. No, you are right. To play correctly you need to make a buzzing sound with your lips, but I have been relying on mouthpiece pressure to make the sound and am now trying to change this.
  2. Do any brass players out there have experience of learning to lip buzz? I have been playing for a few years now, but I have just become aware that I cannot do this and I am currently trying to learn. I can now manage to get a sound (comfortably middle D-G) but find it difficult to get out of this range and wondered if there were any members here who have also been though this process and who might have a few suggestions. Thank you, Liz
  3. I definately agree with flint-wwrr on Quiet City. - yes you would need the Cor Anglais and Piano but I it's a lovely calm piece and it would be worth it. When I heard this performed, it was by a Cornet rather than a Trumpet. Not sure which it was written for, but the cornet sound blended well with the other instruments. This could be down to individual players but may be worth considering if you have previously played Cornet? Also as J. Lee Graham suggested, the 2nd movement of the Haydn concerto sounds like just the thing!
  4. Thanks for all the replys people. There are a lot of good French horn pieces out there , but I seem to get it in the neck from the French horn players when I play them, it's a shame really cause the majority are enjoyable to play!:ermm:
  5. Heyya, I'm a Grade 8ish tenor horn player and due to the relitively poor repertoire of the instrument, I'd just like to draw the attention of any young composers out there! Hopefully this will help the tenor horn develop as a solo instrument!! Thankyou for reading.
