  1. 90 views... yet one comment only. oh my. i need to hand this in soon, i accept ALL critisism. ahh oh well.
  2. i like it. it sounds like busy streets. in a good way, not a disorganised hustle and bustle. hmm. i'm not making sense. it's good. i like muchly.
  3. I had originally composed this piece going for an impressionistic style. . . it didn't quite work out. But still i am happy with the result. Rhapsody (still trying to work out a better name) is a relaxing and often modal piece. I am handing this in for my year 12 assessment so any constructive comments would, of course, be much appreciated. Thank you. it feels good to be back on YC, it's been a while. THanks again everybody. impressionism.sib rhapsody.mid
  4. YEAH! Muse is good and radiohead is similar to muse and also has some interesting stuff. I don't have a problem with the essay, sure there are bits that i don't agree with but it's hard to avoid that with such a contrversial topic. There are many exceptions to your argument. (as in any argument) If you want an argument that nobody will object to try "Why i hate rap" then everyone will agree with you that rap is barely music.
  5. I gave writing a fugue a shot but i'm not sure whether i did it right. Is a fugue meant to change key for every new phrase? I seem to be going through keys very quickly... anyway it's just a work in progress. Any help would be appreciated! :) harpsichord fugue.mid harpsichord.sib
  6. i think of it as something that would be sung at a cathedral as a "chant" type thing i guess. oh yeah, i really hate the midi sound of the choir so i've put the SATB into harpsichord (but it's still intended to be sung by choir) comments? baroque choir harpsi.sib baroque choir harpsi.mid
  7. hehe well these are the first ones that i've read that are even just a little bit embarrassing. oh man... i like "rich girl" by gwen stefani. i think my life just ended. :(
  8. wow, really beautiful. also a bit repetitive. but the funny thing is even though i realised it was a bit repetitive i didn't care cos it's just so dam good. i want to learn to write like this, i'm going to give it a go. so beautiful.
  9. my mate created a band similar to the Foo Fighters (if you've heard of them) they called themselves the Poo lighters.... but errr i guess that doesn't help you much. i like alpha 3, Not a Band, You wish, Banned (oh dam i'm witty, lol), No, Yes you can!, I ate the quaver, It's in your crotchet, Tongues on fire. hahaha, sorrry they're probably all just stupid but i dunno.
  10. BAHAHAHAHAA! my hero. actually i really like that tea.
  11. yeah it's pretty musical theatreish, musical theatre tells a story so is usually emotive. (i.e. makes people feel a certain way....then again most music does that) well anyway it's usually pretty flashy like this one, with the fast runs up the scale and the cymbals going. But i'm generalising, musical theatre isn't always like that. Les miserables has some of the most complex pieces of music i've ever heard. I like the piece. :)
  12. whoa, sweeeeeet. panic really is the word for it, it feels like it is teetering on the edge of completely falling apart but manages to hold on. then when you get near the end there is a sound like a train coming (beep beep? honk honk? whatever...) and i was like OMG there's somebody on the tracks!! cos it's all so tension building and stressful. At the end when you get to that major chord i said "phew" outloud. None of the above is meant to say anything bad about the piece, i actually really like it. nice job!!
  13. wow thanks to everybody! :)
  14. if it sounds good to you, gives you a feeling of satisfaction from writing it, etc. then you have achieved your goal. If, then, somewhere along the way you discover some sort of musical element that will pioneer a new generation of music then that is a bonus. In my opinion we write music to what appeals to us and our ear, does it really matter if it takes us hundreds of years to change from the musical ways set by Bach and the other classical guru's? I'm sure to some people it is frustrating that many compose classical and only classical, but does it really matter? i say everybody is overanalysing it all (but interesting conversation anyway :) ) we will grow in our own time, our ears need to slowly adapt. If bach heard todays pop music what would he think?
