  1. Not in any real order, Mahler Symphony 8 Glass Symphony 4 Beethoven symphony 3 Mahler symphony 5 Beethoven symphony 7
  2. I've read some orchestration books but is that all i'd really need to know as far as writing?(I dont think so really) other than studing some scores of course. I know how to write for the instraments.
  3. I'm a saxophone player who has been venturing out these past years into other instraments. I picked up trumpet, clarinet and horn. Im fairly good at trumpet (i've got a few preformances under my belt;)). With the horn and clarinet i seem to get nowhere fast. So I was wondering how to get better at these other instraments without hindering my ability on the others, and if anyone else finds it difficult to play more than two wind instraments. thanks for the time. :D
  4. Rite of spring Makes my ears (and head) hurt.
  5. a symphony Part 1 Allegro, Minuetto Part 2 Adagio I, Scherzo (*Yes Minuetto and Scherzo) Part 3 Adagio II, Rondo-Finale. Trio for bassoon cello and piano Oratorio called "Praise Worthy" in 4 parts "Devotion" "He who sits on the Thrown" "The Seventh Trumpet" and then "Come Lord"
  6. I dont know what to make of this peice. I have been trying to open up to atonal music recently, but I just cant digest music like this right now. I guess that it was well constructed but what I can comment on is effects. This peice looked very playable but the Flute part got unreasonable with the 32 groups. Most could not properly play these. What you could use insted is Flutter-tonguing. It is much easier to play and will give the same effect. (plus i think most preformers might just do it anyway)
  7. Pitch is all vibrations of air right? so there must be Rythms in the vibrations or else there is just a single Rhythmic pulse. Like a drum(not timpani). But if it is able to "ring" then it has a pitch. And the _-__-__-__-__-_ osolation(sp), dont you need two Crests of a wave to measure its distance? And that would mean two that come systematicly(sp) after each other? That sounds like rhythms to me. But Rhythm seems like it can't have pitch. Only because it is just a single pulse amd then it is over. I had a ear training book that tryed to explain it.
  8. The Cadenza might work if you make or allow artistic tempo exadrations and exellerations(i know that is not the right wording so i hope you get what im saying)
  9. Do you use harmonie assistant
  10. Mahler's 5th and 8th Symphonies Beethoven's 3ed and 6th Symphonies Dvorak's 7th 8th and 9th Symphonies The Holst band suites and the Planets Suite
  11. I'm writing down themes for a band suite. (March, Waltz, Variations, scherzo, rondo) and a piano peice or two.
  12. Eb Major and G Major. Eb just has a warm feeling and G major sounds very bright.
  13. 3ed was one of the best scherzos I have ever heard!
