  1. Really, this is awesome. I just have to say I don't really see the 'peaceful environment' bit... While I was listening to this, I pictured maybe a messenger riding his horse through an old battlefield or something...through the woods, maybe a small town... I think it just felt like it had a lot more urgency than a quiet countryside. Still, it is really really good!
  2. Again, thank you. I think one of my main roadblocks here is that I live in the middle of nowhere. The only library within an hour's drive of my home is more like an over-glorified magazine rack. I've been trying to learn as much as I can, and I think I may have actually secured a music theory tutor. (only $45 a month, I believe) I'm hoping this will help me with what I believe to be my second roadblock, which is the fact that I have a hard time with the whole 'theme' and 'structure' and 'form' thing... The only way I know is just to write things as they come, and try and make them fit together (if they don't already). I think this is one of the main reasons my music isn't too good, and I'd be really happy if someone could help me out with that, or point me in the right direction. (P.S. - I'd drive that hour(+) to get those books, but I don't have a driver's license yet...)
  3. Alright, if you think that'd be a good idea. It's in five different scores (just .MUS files) and I did some editing in Audacity after it was done, so it won't be exactly the same. Give me a bit to clean up the scores and I'll post it as a whole.
  4. Thank you, I'll be sure to post a score. (Oh, and it is finished, I just figured there's no sense in posting the whole thing if it's all really bad.) noises.MUS
  5. I thought this was really great, starts with a kind of playful energetic feeling, and grows into something that seems really majestic and moving. I guess that's really all I can say though, being the beginner that I am.
  6. Alright, first of all, I've got no idea what I'm doing, so you probably shouldn't take any of this too seriously. (You actually could probably just stop reading without missing out on much.) I liked it for the most part, but there were a few times when it seemed sort of rambling and disjointed. I'm sure I'm also missing out a lot, only being able to listen to a MIDI. Really, the only thing that I can say made me flinch a bit was the lead violin going on its own around 1:50 there. Not that that's a bad idea or anything, but it didn't seem like it was following an underlying harmonic base. (Just that the measures didn't seem to agree too well.) Hope this helps in some way or another.
  7. Hey there. I did something, but I don't know what to call it. It's in very obviously separate parts, so I think it'd be a good idea to post them one by one. (?) I suppose, if the feedback is very negative, I may not have to. 1. Techniques used As with everything else I do, not a whole lot, I think... I've got an issue with that, I guess. Things sound sort of stagnant. 2. How long it took to compose the piece This part didn't take long, maybe a couple hours in total. 3. Structure of your piece I think it's just a repetition... Oboe and violins, then they repeat with a piccolo playing along, and then they all repeat with the flutes, violas and timpani playing as well. 4. Obstacles when composing Just my lack of knowledge, I guess. 5. Summary of overall piece It's the build-up into what I think might just be another build-up... MP3
  8. Alright, so... Hey, I like music and things. I know the title says 'Allegro Vivace for Solo Keyboard', but I'm not sure it's actually playable, because of the chord at the end. (I don't play the piano.) It's really short, in C major. 1. Techniques used Not a whole lot... Because of my drastically limited knowledge of music theory, I had the bass play a broken C-C-B-B chord pattern through pretty much the whole song. (But I really did try to make the fifty-three seconds go by quickly enough, with the melody.) 2. How long it took to compose the piece I think this took me about an hour, but I don't remember too well. 3. Structure of your piece Like I said before, there isn't really any structure... Just the same thing, over and over in the bass, and a slightly changing melody. 4. Obstacles when composing Just wishing I knew more. 5. Summary of overall piece Seems like it'd be real fun to play, but who knows? Allegro Vivace for Solo Keyboard.pdf allegro.MID
