  1. ummm, how exactly do you do that??? I mean, I can use finale and everything, but I'm not exactly high-tech.
  2. Hey everyone! This my concerto for clarinet! I'm a string player, but I love the clarinet and my friend Bridget is amazing at it, so I decided to write this for her. I love the first two movements, but the third one was a hastily put together in exhaustion.:D So any comments on how to improve this would be wonderful! clarinet concerto.MUS
  3. This is my latest piece. Yes, it is meant to be slow, thin, and boring. I really don't expect many people to like this. The wind and string parts are sparse, and the piano has very little to no harmony, it's mostly just octaves:toothygrin:. But I love this piece, and if anyone has anything that they would change, please tell me!!! Piano Sextet A MINOR final.MUS
  4. ummm, thanks jerk. could you tell me why?
  5. thanks kukes! and david, the cello part in m. 70 is not the focus. The solo viola is! This piece isn't a concerto or anything, so I don't want the quintet to be the main engagement, it is just a different outlet for different sound and tone. and the orchestra at my school that will play this has gotten straight 1's for over 10 years at contest. These are just my thoughts...
  6. Here are the midi files. I can't make pdf's... you know you can download a free version of finale to see the mus. Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor Mov.MID Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor Mov 2.MID Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor Mov 3.MID
  7. Please give me advice! I know that the second movement is heavy on the solo cello with the cadenza type section and it may be a little boring. The third movement was also written quite fast but still has a nervous character and got the point that I wanted across. There are also no bowings or dynamics or anything like that yet. Those are coming! Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor Mov. 1.MUS Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor Mov. 2.MUS Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor Mov. 3.MUS
  8. I have gone over your advice and changed some things. Thanks to both of you for the help! Elegy in C minor score.MUS
  9. This is a piece for string orchestra with the a soloist in each section. It is one movement, but goes through different smaller sections. The main theme introduced in the very beginning by the first solo violin is played and developed throughout the piece. It is in C minor, and is called "Elegy" because I wrote it for my friend who's grandfather had just passed away. During that time I read quite a few sad poems and elegy poems and this piece is kind of a mash up of all the ideas those gave me. I chose to write it for the solo quintet because the effect of switching from the full strings to just one in a section or just one at all is exquisite. I like the intimate effect of it, especially for a mourning piece, and I tried to put put the solos and tuttis in places you sometimes wouldn't expect. The midi is terrible, sorry! I hope to have a recording by my school chamber orchestra by the end of the year. (with me playing the solo cello part) Elegy in C minor score.MID Elegy in C minor score.MUS
  10. Hi, I am a junior in highschool and I am going to major in composition. I play 'cello, violin, and viola, and piano. My favorite ensemble to write for is the string quartet. Some of these quartets are missing bowings and other markings, but they will be added later. I use Finale...I hope you like them. Please tell me what you think and give me advice!
