  1. This is probably one of the best compositions I've heard on this website. I haven't even heard the whole thing yet, and I keep wanting to go back to the trumpet solo in the beginning. It was so beautiful. No one on this website usually writes things so delicate.
  2. I'm sorry! Actually, I found it hidden deep within my hard drive. I could send it to you. It pales so much in comparison since I wrote it over a year ago.
  3. You have some very interesting melodies. The opening in Jupiter was beautiful, actually. It seems like your pieces would be very very well written if their melodies had a bit stronger of harmonies. It just seems like some notes are missing from some chords. As of first orchestral compositions, these are pretty good! (much better than my first, I'll tell you that!) But I'd really say that your composition would benefit from fuller harmonies. Have woodwinds double each other at octaves. (I.E. Flutes C-E and Clarinets an octave lower with Oboes C-G and Bassoons an octave lower). Strings too. My advice is probably not the best since I haven't any formal composition classes yet. But if you can harmonize more, I know these pieces could be great.
  4. Pretty good ideas in this one. I liked the theme a lot. Maybe later, the alto and bass voices can take over while the others develop more complex harmonies. This one seems to have much potential in the making.
  5. I really liked how you built your themes around that pizzicato. You kept it really complex, yet not too dissonant. I really enjoyed that. It would be cool if you took the ideas and added some sort of development section. You know? New keys, etc. Pretty modern sounding. Usually when I say that, it's not a good thing from my perspective, but I enjoyed this one!
  6. Where is the link?
  7. That was one of the most beautiful minuets I've heard. Measure 25-26 was my favorite part.
  8. Hey, thanks for your comments on my latest post. I was actually listening to this piece you posted the day before. This was a beautiful movement. The dominant to minor right in the beginning was just captivating. But that minor section! I couldn't help but smile. The recapitulation I was most interested in. I liked how familiar, yet different you made it. I heard the same tune, but the variation kept it interesting! Thank you for making my day better with this piece.
  9. Thank you, Ron. I will make sure that even the most proficient and aged composers on this website can hear the ramblings of an annoying 15 year old boy like myself. Well, they'll actually be reading it. But I'm sure you've heard quite enough of my cynicism! John

  11. Well, to start, your English is better than 80% of the people I know, so good job! I am really glad that you enjoyed this Symphony and especially glad to see someone who is also tired of modern music! I like dissonances, but I think people are just getting to lazy or comfortable with them. I liked when dissonance was a nice trick in the Romantic era to add beauty to your piece as I tried to do in the second movement. As for development issues, I've taken your comments in to perspective. I've been working on development with more recent compositions because I agree that my music could and should see some more of it. I'm taking my first composition class over the summer so hopefully I'll gain some practice! Thanks so much for your comment, Sebastian!
  12. You're right, Darkangel. I just hate Midi so much! But, I do write dynamics in my music. Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to put them in my midi.
  13. I couldn't help but laugh at you're reference, Cheese Messiah, to Youtube's poor sound quality. I agree with you completely! I suppose I'll have to find another site like box.net or something. Nonetheless, I'd like to thank you all for your comments! And as for the second movement, I have no idea why I decided to add that scherzando-type tune. Originally, this movement was to a Piano Concerto in C Minor which I didn't keep. I really liked the theme so I wanted to adapt it in a more bold piece. I decided to add more development and got a little out of control. :)
  14. I'll be working on them this week. Unfortunately, it might take awhile since I don't have a lot of time to work on them.
