  1. i like to use lydian and dorian in guitar pieces
  2. Hi, Brian (Wilson) based some of the "Pet Sounds" songs on J S Bach pieces apparently...would love to know the specific details.......anyway i take it u dont know the answer to my question? Maybe it's too general....the Chopin esque little staccatto piano touches in "Dancing Queen" in the verse after "only seventeen" for example but songs like "Lay all your love on me" have that Jean Michelle Jarre feel due to broken chords if i'm not mistaken.....can anyway elaborate? re; Abba repetoire..
  3. Has anyone analysed /unlocked that classical "feel" that Abba had in their songs. Could u give examples? Likewise Jean Michelle Jarre . The latter used broken chords in his synthesiser compositions giving that distinctive "European" texture.
  4. HI. i recently saw a TV programme about Strauss the younger.....the pianists gave an example of an amazing dramatic chord in an excerpt which i presume was from a waltz. can anyone elaborate/elucidate? and/or give other examples of pieces which use such chords..please include the chords used within the particular phrase(s)
